Post your really innovative 'thing' -
something which inspires you -
is helpful -
makes you glad to be alive -
is not boring
- fills you with a joie de vivre

---here--- (in this thread)

Item number (1)

a 3d colour printer (http://www.zcorp.com/) (of the fondleable, air-throwable and usable 3d model itself - not a dumb copy on paper)

---------------
VIDEO BELOW
---------------

design some 'thing' with 3d detail (potentially) -
choose colours
and press a button

->-

and a 3d accurate, colour and toughened model is printed out -
- the actual 3d thing is printed out -
imagine taking slices out of the model - of defined thickness -
and sticking them -
- one on top of the other -
building up the model from
bottom ->- up.

sliding in a mechanism is possible -
for instance a pump with a stopper (been done apparently)

or

bits of electronickery with a switch

->- to->-
generate a working 'prototype'.

so - we've one technology which teaches

design, function, form, math, engineering, IT, style

:-)
and is kinda' like the food dispenser in Star Trek

- which'll be next (using this kinda' technology)
(using flavourings and different textures of edible polymer)

apparently less than $100 per high definition model -
prices'll come down -
- and thereafter -

pointless plastic toys and their associated pointless industries will fall soon after ... ...

is that REAL?

- yes -
one of the developer guys of the tech who's off to Z Corp in Chicago soon told me about it -
on You Tube -
there was a video labelled
'yet another 3d technology'
- so not sure if it's so new an idea -

I love it though -

the dust comes in various grades - which translates to strength of object -
the guy I talked to didn't know the chemical composition -

I figure it's not a zillion from papier-ma^che/ though -

soft -> hard an' all

(Tracy !)
stop it.

the specific photocopier (you'll notice)
if you'd look more closely

is the Canlympus sub-20' Man-T1ng

and has a 2-sided automated feed.

Toilet Snorkel
US Patent Issued In 1982

What exactly is this man doing? Communicating with his neighbors using his new Toilet Phone? Blowing up his Inflatable Toilet? Or is he simple blowing bubbles? Well the correct answer is None of the Above. This guy is using the new breath easy, Toilet Snorkel, formulated to provide a fresh air source during fires in high rise buildings.

In most fires, it's the smoke that will get you, and a source of fresh air can be a life saver. So our inventor designed a way to snake a snorkel through the zigs and zags of your toilet, so you can breath sewer air instead of smoke. Here's our question... couldn't he have, just as easily, invented the Faucet Snorkel instead?

there are some fab ideas floating around :)

http://totallyabsurd.com/cry_no_more.GIF

Cry No More
US Patent Issued In 2000

Tiny tots often cry for no reason that we adults can discern, at times that said adults might find inconvenient, such as on an airplane or in a restaurant. But that's what babies do. That's why they are so darn adorable, so we can't stay mad at them too long.

Every parent is aware that a pacifier will… well… pacify the baby, that is until she decides to spit it out. Then, their little mouths are free to let loose with a gurgle or a scream, the later being not as desirable as the first. But we have a solution to their pacifier spittin' shenanigans, the Cry-No-More strap-on pacifier! This devious device firmly affixes the pacifier to baby's face by looping security straps around her little ears! The Cry-No-More looks good in theory and it may work for about ten seconds, until she reaches up and rips it off. And you can be thankful that the wee one can't talk yet, or you may get an earful once the cork has been popped.
