Just one thing I'd like to know right now about Strattera: do the side effects (like sadness & anxiety) where off over time?
If so, after how many weeks?

Love,
Maria

Yes, for me, the side effects began to wear off over time. They are still wearing off. I never really got the side effect of sadness except for the very first day but then I realized that it was the Strattera causing me to feel sad so whenever I get that feeling I try to tell myself that it will pass and it does. I never really got anxiety from Strattera, just the feeling that I was drugged and I felt weird. It took about a week for me to notice that the side effects were fading for me. Now, the only side effect that I have is occasional tiredness a couple hours after taking it. Hope this clears things up.

I'm not sure if this is the proper place for this question, but I'm newly diagnosed and Strattera is my first med. I've been on it for three days (three doses at 25mg) and I've noticed very mild side effects so far. I feel a tingly in the mornings (I take it after breakfast) and my hands and feet are cold all day (very abnormal for me).

When did you notice your side effects (and what were they)? When did you notice the Strattera was working (or not)?

My Dr.'s plan is 25mg per day for Week 1, 40mg at Week 2, 60mg at Week 3, and then a follow-up. Oh, I'm about 5'11 and 180 lbs. I've never taken a medication for anything other than usual antibiotics and painkillers post-surgery, and this is not an easy thing for me to do (I've always put off seeking any help, medicial or otherwise). I'm trying to separate over-analysis from actual symptoms, any advice is helpful. Thanks.

Hi Maria, welcome to ADDForums.

What is your dosage? How long have you been taking it? What time of day do you take your meds?

Sometimes... people who are overly tired on Strattera in the a.m. have switched to taking their meds at night. Some can't though.. it depends. There are some though who've taken it at night...and found themselves unable to sleep.

As far as taking strattera......some have reported side effects still visible as long as a month into taking the med. However, each person is different.

Keep a journal of any differences you notice. It helps you by having it down on paper. It can also help the doctor adjust your dosages.
