I believe my 7 year old ADHD/Asperger's son has maxed out his dosage for Daytrana at his age level. Does anyone know of another drug that is better? We tried Concerta and at the lowest level it didn't touch him at all. He is currently taking 15mg of Daytrana is going to 20 to much for him at his age?

I know with a lot of ADHD medications the dosage is based partly on weight, but also on severity of symptoms. It can also take some time to find the right medication(s) and the right dosage, since not everything will work the same for everyone.

Have you talked with his doctor about your concerns?

We were just there and it seemed at that time it was seasonal but this behavior we thought was seasonal doesn't seem that way anymore. I am going to call as soon as they get back in the office and make an appointment if I can. The last time we talked about his meds I believe she had said that he was already at a pretty high dose.

Well if he has maxed out, and the medication isn't working it sounds like it's time to dry something different. (That's something you'll need to discuss with his doc). I know for us we went through Concerta, Adderall, Daytrana, before getting to Strattera and Tenex. That with play therapy have really helped a lot.

Does he have a therapist to help teach him the social aspect of things?

My 5 year old son is ADHD/High-functioning Autistic. We have him on 30mg vyvanse and .5mg Risperidal. For sleep he takes 2mg Melatonin. Have you talked to the doctor about a med for the aspergers in combo to the daytrana?
