I have a pretty simple question, does different speeds of metabolism change the effectiveness of different ADHD medications?
For instance, if you have a high metabolism would a controlled release drug like Concerta be a better option than Vyvanse?

Well, one significant impact on the duration of effectiveness for amphetamine-based compounds is the fact that a high percentage of it is eliminated unchanged. There are factors that can impact this either way.
As far as which one would be better, it is hard to tell without actually trying them both. If Vyvanse doesn't last very long, that is one thing, but if Methylphenidate doesn't work well for you at all (in terms of general effectiveness), then Vyvanse might be the better choice. There are many factors involved.

Hmm, well, I've tried ritalin based medicines and adderall and vyvanse. Concerta works really well for me, but I'm trying Vyvanse right now and I like it, even though it doesn't last very long for me.
The reason why I ask about the effects of metabolism is that final dosage for Concerta was/is 108 mgs daily. From what I understand, that's a pretty high dose, but my doctor said some people need higher doses because for whatever reason, they don't seem to digest or metabolise all the medicine, a lot of it is wasted. I think the conclusion we came to was that I am one of these types of people.
Well, now that I'm on vyvanse, I'm curious about what effect my metabolism has on the Vyvanse. I can tell you the benefits with Vyvanse don't last nearly as long as Concerta, but it's much smoother and I feel much more normal. The dosage I'm taking right now of Vyvanse is 60 mgs daily.
