I apologize if this has been asked before. I asked a similar question in a different unrelated thread, but thought it might be better answered here.

For those of you who give your children omega-3 supplements, would you share the source [fish, flaxseed, emu] and the total amount (my chemist mind would like to know this in milligrams, but if you give me a brand name, I can probably figure that out myself).

Thank you so much!

Thanks Tracy, :)

I read a clinical study where they gave the children 3 grams of omega 3 and studied the results. To achieve 3 g with the type of vitamin I bought at the store, I would have to give them 15 gummyvites for each dose. I wanted to know what concentrations others were giving to their children to see any effects. Hopefully not 3 g.

I was in a hurry to get them started on the supplement, so I picked up the first thing I saw at the store. I realize now that I am going to have to go to the health food store.

I give both my kids (only one is ADHD) pharm grade fish oil. It's called OmegaBrite and as far as I know is only available online. It comes in liquid form (I also like that it comes in fruit or orange flavors) and they only take 1/4 teas every morning (don't know how that equals in milligrams). Per the testimonials on the website, we should be seeing results within 3 months (they've only been taking it for a month). My husband and I also the capsules. Good luck.

I give my kids Coromega, which is 2000mg of mixed omegas (long chain, EPA, DHA). It comes in little packets of pudding-like stuff that they slurp down each morning. They have orange, orange/chocolate and lemon-lime flavors. I get them at the local health food store, but I think they are available on-line.

I don't know how much it helps with the ADHD, but it's good for their health anyway!

My 9 year old takes 1000 mg of mixed Omega's in a liquid made by Nordic Naturals. I purchase this at the health food store. She will only take it if mixed with orange juice. I haven't noticed a difference in her ADD, but her moods seem less labile since we started the Omega's.

You should be sure you're buying a pharmaceutical grade purified fish oil so that you know the toxins have been filtered out.
