I am having a lot of fun with the new reputation system. I have received and given rep points as a gift for special occasions. I look for opportunities to give rep points to new members to encourage them to keep posting. Anonymous rep points are appreciated, but I really enjoy points left with creative messages. Special thanks to the Phantom Repper. :D

Glad you've had a good experience with it :) Positive comments are great and I've found most people here are encouraging and understanding.

I usually forget to give people rep. but I've been remembering with these thread reminding me of it :D

This is the first forum I've seen with the "thanks" option. I like it, but it doesn't allow you to say WHY you're giving thanks.

"great post"

"I appreciate that"

"thanks for the info"

"thanks for replying"

"you're presence here is appreciated"

"good morning"

"good night"

It's like an all-purpose acknowledgment button.

it doesn't, however, You can typically infer why someone likes it. Usually, it's because they identify with the post or think it's great info/advice/suggestions.

If you want to write why you like the post (or don't), you can use rep points.

I try to give thanks where credit is due... I've seen some really awesome posts.. giving support and information recently.

That includes rep points.. and I always sign my name. I believe that others deserve to know that someone out there is on the same page, so to speak.

If I am in a hurry .. I use the *thanks* button, but try to return later to explain why.
