A thought that just struck me was, that I heard somewhere that stimulant drugs increase your mood for music.
Does your mood for music increase when you take your medication?

I may be "old" but I know what it's like to jump in the pit. :D
When I am NOT on meds I feel like I'm on stimulants. That's when my mind and body is on overdrive. And that is when I most like to crank up the the music and jump around.

Are you predominantly hyperactive then?

Innattentive. The hyperactivity seems to come when my mind races, when I'm unmedicated. I think it's the natural physical tendancy to produce adreniline.

I see.
Its just with me being ADHD-PI
Any type of stimulant would seem to have an NT effect on me.
So it usually gives me a greater appreciation to music.
I love it, cause it takes away the mental noise and I can concentrate on it. Amphetamines also enhance the appreciation of harmonic sounds.

When under stimulated, I find music unbearable (like an angle grinder cutting concrete) especially first thing in the morning.

I'm not sure if this is related to the post, but I can hear like every instrument and background music when i'm listening to the radio in my car or my ipod when i'm running. sometimes i think my cell phone is ringing but it's actually a harmony in the song. i never noticed these sounds before stimulants so i know it's related. like i am super focused (subconsciously) on the music that i can hear every note.
When not medicated, most music irritates me :( usually because I'm not in control of it - it's background noise in the house, not my choice, or in stores, or too random to appreciate, or often too loud. I cannot read, write, do any mental with most music and forget it if it has any lyrics. Also, I have that continuous mental track of songs and lyrics running through my brain, randomly punctuating almost every situation.
However, if it's music I want when I want it, then I'm over the moon spinning HAPPY M O V I N G!
Medicated, I enjoy it more most of the time but not as intensely. It accentuates life, like spice. I appreciate it more intellectually, all types, and I seem to understand the structure of music more readily. That can be surprising and delightful.
Yes, hyperactive type.
