View Full Version : Confessional...Guilty pleasures!
Grafter 05-11-08, 11:13 AM There are certain things that I really enjoy in life. I enjoy them so much I almost feel guilty about it. Here are few of the little pleasures I have that add a little zest to life.:
<o></o>
If locked in a room with a half gallon of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream….I’ll win every time.
I know how many licks it takes to get to the center of a raspberry Tootsie-Pop.
New cotton socks. I love the feel of new socks on my feet. It makes me all tingly on the inside when I slip my feet in them.
I’ve never told ANYBODY this. My secret music jam is the Dreamgirls soundtrack.
<o></o>Whew. I’m glad I got that off my chest. I feel tons better now!
<o></o>
<o></o>What about you? Confess your guilty pleasures here! It’s confidential, and no one will hold it against you!
<o></o>

O.k. Well since you were brave enough to share that :p, I'll tell you what one of my guilty pleasures used to be. (WARNING - SOME PEOPLE MAY FIND THIS DISGUSTING!) When I still had a relationship with my ex, whom I loved dearly - every single part of him, I used to really, REALLY get joy from picking at any flakey clumps on his scalp. He didn't mind and said he kinda liked me doing it too.
Now I wouldn't be into doing that to anyone else's scalp, except maybe MINE or my kids (who would NEVER allow me to do that)!

MJwatson 05-11-08, 01:59 PM Ok! I'm game!
I have a collection of Princess tiaras (which I do wear)
I like the Avril Lavigne song "Girlfriend"
I laugh at the Family Guy.....and sooo hard when the red sox fan dropped the foul ball
Sometimes I will say something on purpose...to "shock and awe"
I love the 90s!
and the Love's Baby soft spray!!
ok
1. watching crap movies on computer while smoking and eating lots of pudding
2. love abba band
3. romantic movies ....cannt stop crying
dotan
Warm chocolate chip cookies, just out of the oven with a large glass of milk.
Certain kinds of food.. like chicken.. I can't get enough of. But not every day.
I love beef....but not liver... I could eat just meat.. and be happy.
Cookie dough ice cream...
Now don't laugh.... swimming naked, in the night with my husband. Especially when the water is just about 75 degrees.
Laying on freshly laundered sheets that have been hung in the rain... and drip dried.
Watching /holding a baby of any kind...:)
Flowers... in bloom.
There are more... but it would be a super long post if I kept going.

Sitting out in the wilderness on a warm summer day.
A hug from a friend

ADDAWAY 05-12-08, 02:25 AM You're Marrrrrrrvelous Grafter for giving us this "confidential" opportunity! Allow me to retell the guilty pleasures/dreams of a friend of mine ...
Leaving the refrigerator door open, a couple of lights on, a kitchen cabinet door open or scrambling socks on purpose
The smell of cavernous gas under the blankets before another wakes in the morning ... smells like Vicary ... supposedly
Reading, eating, shaving, talking on the phone, taking notes and driving with self-righteous road rage simultaneously
Eating yogurt and Oreo cookies right before going to the dentist
Secretly feeding the dogs and cats something other than the dry, dull food that's good for them
Double-dipping chips
Having Sloppity Sue tend the scalp
Cracking new books open in the middle at a bookstore and taking in the smell of the pages
"Eaves"dropping on the neighbors arguing
Rubbing a sweaty armpit with a lover's toothbrush after being commanded to brush the teeth
Making delicious hors d'oeuvres and eating them before company arrives
Watching free cable that inadvertently failed to be disconnected
Leaving the Do Not Disturb sign on your door all romantic weekend long
Not packing underarm deodorant that weekend
aloha1983 05-12-08, 03:29 AM Haha! These are so funny!
1. Eating raw cookie dough, with icecream or not. You can get it at the shops here in oz in a little tube. So good!
2. Even though I have two degrees, I love escapism in a good chick lit novel (basically the book equivalent of a chick flick).
3. If I have 2 different socks, the thickest one always has to go on my left foot. No idea why!
4. My room is a mess... I let it go then clean it every 4-5 days.
5. Surfing and wakeboarding... I'm addicted as they go faster than my brain and I find it soothing!
6. Riding my Z-Flex (retro skatey) round the back streets, late at night when I can't sleep. I normally take a mate or two.
7. Taking time out just for me.
I, um, own every season of 'Family Guy.'
But only because its an interesting take on contemporary humour, okay??? That's the reason why such an obvious intellectual like myself would own such a collection, and. . .and. .. i'm doing a thesis on it!
I play Sims2 when i feel miserable. I'll sit at my desk for hours, totally obsessed with my sims social life, the furniture placement, the next promotion, getting the kid into private school. . .
Before the Big Crash of '06, i had fourth and fifth generation sims from four core families, all with complicated and interconnected story lines. It was a WORK OF ART. The writers from 'The Bold and the Beautiful' would have WEPT at the sight of it!
I still haven't recovered fully. I'm in therapy.
Bluerose 05-12-08, 06:52 AM I’m such a saint I really don’t have that much to confess but I’m sure given enough time I’ll come up with something.
This will have to do to be going on with -
I once squeezed out a whole tube of tooth paste just to see what it felt like - I was thirty something!
ADDAWAY 05-12-08, 04:55 PM No wonder my friend couldn't brush the teeth, bluerose ... it's all your fault for wasting that tube that would've lasted him a lifetime!
Spongedaddy 05-12-08, 05:00 PM I still love comic books and the only reason I don't buy them is because they are very expensive.
I own all three video game machines right now and I don't care if I will go blind, but right now I play with my Wii a lot.
Hmmm I guess I'm still a big kid.
dyingInside 05-12-08, 06:18 PM Hmmm.. Schadenfreude, ladies armpits (even if they're hairy)... finding some rather heavy women attractive... leaving the seat up... $2.00 for a grande bold at starbucks... occasionally reading columns by George Will and agreeing with him (not every time, mind you)... spending countless lost minutes/hours in bookstores (hey! regular bookstores-get your mind out of the gutter!) reading the magazines and books, and only buying one or two, if any... going to a music store, playing all the guitars, and leaving... STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN & FREE BIRD
Haha... wait... I'm actually supposed to feel guilty about this stuff?
dyingInside 05-12-08, 06:48 PM LOL Sue monkeys and apes do that a lot. Must be some sort of instinct! The grooming bond thing!

Sandy4957 05-12-08, 07:03 PM dI, you crack me up.
Ok, the thing about the toothpaste made me think of one for me. I love fruit snacks. Ok, you're thinking, sure, we'll all steal one or two packages now and then when we're packing lunches for the kids, yada yada yada, right?
WRONG. Let me say this again: I LOVE FRUIT SNACKS!!!!
I love fruit snacks so much that I am a connoisseuse of fruit snacks.
I love the little shark shaped ones that seem to have some sort of yogurt or something in them. I love the ones made with grape juice that are a bit chewier, like a gummy bear almost, I love the mixed-flavored ones that are all fruit and used to come in the foil packages. But my absolute FAVORITE are the Florida Naturals ones that come in these teeny tiny little packages. They are SOOOOOOOOooooooo good.
So here's the guilty pleasure: in 1991 or so, for my birthday, my then boyfriend bought me four boxes of these things. It added up to an entire pound of them. We opened up all the packages and dumped them all into a bowl and consumed ALL of them in one sitting. I darned near slipped into a diabetic coma.
newfdog 05-12-08, 09:08 PM Hmmmmm, Guilty pleasures? Thats not really a hard one, but for some reason I believe I read somewhere we had to at least keep it PG....http://www.addforums.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=142&pictureid=1096
ADDAWAY 05-12-08, 09:18 PM BIG DOG ... you're so cruel just making us think about that possibility only to find out we started salivating all for naught! I can't believe you wouldn't give us "dogs" a crumb or two ... I'm sitting good & wagging ...
Teedrum 05-12-08, 09:38 PM cuddling with my cat, and dog...after a shower...
when my cat follows me to my room to get dressed and hes fuzzy i hold him and pet him and hes warm and purrs
now get your heads outta the gutter....
the other one is going into mosh pits and 'accidently' punching someonein the face
I get a kick of holding my husband's prized/new possessions hostage until he takes me out or buys me something I want.
ADDAWAY 05-12-08, 11:47 PM What are his "prized" possessions, and how do you restrain them?
High Five!
edge of reason 05-13-08, 09:05 AM Guilty pleasures, huh? Hmmm.....
1. Making chocolate chip cookie dough and eating half the chips before it gets in the oven.
2. Buying truffles, hiding them, and not sharing.
3. Drinking all but a few swallows of juice, and putting the container back in the fridge.
4. Using all but one ice cube, and putting the tray back in the freezer.
5. Buying ice cream with chocolate and candy chunks. Digging out the candy and chocolate with a spoon, and then not eating the ice cream.
6. Being in a phone conversation with someone who drones on and on, and getting " accidently " and abruptly disconnected from them when i have had enough. Grins. Oops.
7. Pretending i'm not home when someone knocks at the door and i don't want company.
8. Sleeping in the middle of the bed.
9. Laughing my *** of at Family Guy. Love that Stewie.
10. Agreeing with George Carlin.
11. Not being a bit embarassed that i enjoy Penthouse Forum, and really good porn.
12. Going into an adult shop and being like a kid in a candy store.
13. Going to a buffet and tasting everything before i choose what to have. No sense in having it on my plate if i'm not going to like it.
14. Swimming naked at night in a hotel pool, and not caring if anyone sees.
15. Getting all dolled up simply for the purpose of going out and being seen.
Bluerose 05-13-08, 09:57 AM edge of reason help me remember some more.
I wait until I'm alone because I feel so guilty about sitting with a whole tub of ice cream when all I want are the toffee ripple and the little chunks of fudge.
I am guilty of doing the thing with the phone. Since I only use my mobile and pay as you go it's easy to plead low battery or no credit.
And yes I have pretended that I'm not home if I'm not in the mood for company. I don't mind if they have text or rung before hand, it's those people who just turn up that get me - I could be sitting with a tub of ice cream!
Grafter 05-13-08, 10:23 AM Mmmm.
Gummi-bears have a short life expectancy around me. One bag is supposed to be 3 servings. Whatever. I eat 2 bags at a time. I like to eat them in bed while reading and biting their heads off and putting them on other bodies. The best combination is a green head on a clear body.
Grafter 05-13-08, 10:30 AM Oh yeah. In the fridge, hiding on the bottom shelf, in the very back, behind the spinach, tomatoes, and low-fat yogurt, is a container of Duncan Hines cream cheese icing. ( it's waaaaaay better than the Betty Crocker brand). At night, after the kids go to bed, I get a big spoon an scoop some up and eat it while watching Letterman in my boxers.
newfdog 05-13-08, 12:21 PM Ya know how twins are :p always chasing them all over:D
What are his "prized" possessions, and how do you restrain them?
High Five!
Sandy4957 05-13-08, 02:12 PM Hahahahahaha! Grafter!!!!!! I do the SAME thing with gummy bears. And I'm especially fond of the clear ones. AND I'll eat them until I'm sick or slip into a diabetic coma!!!!!
Hahahahahaha! It's like this variation on the song:
Love's to eat them bears. Bears's what I loves to eat. Bite they little heads off. Nibble on they tiny feet.
newfdog 05-13-08, 03:46 PM Love's to eat them bears. Bears's what I loves to eat. Bite they little heads off. Nibble on they tiny feet.
Now I wish I was a bear.....:p:p:p
Grafter 05-13-08, 03:49 PM The Gummi-Colas are a treat too! But they don't have bodies you can decapitate.
I've gotten these almost bewildered/disgusted looks from my S/O when I munch on them. It's like she can't believe she's sharing a bed with me or something. :p
However, I've been off the Gummi's for about two months now. The withdrawels were bad in the beginning, but I'm much better now.
Grafter 05-13-08, 03:50 PM Now I wish I was a bear.....:p:p:p
You dirty dawg. :D
Sandy4957 05-13-08, 04:16 PM Hahahahahahaha!!!!!! Newfie's got some ISSUES with foot nibblin' sounds like!!!!! Hahahahahahaha! Fortunately for him, I LOVES the pooches, including even the big, slobbery ones!!! Hahahahahaha! :D:o;)
Grafter, I am SOOOOOOOO with you on the gummi colas. And yes, my hubby finds my candy habit to be.... unusual, shall we say....
I'm also partial to York peppermint patties. Ate BAGS of the things while studying for the bar exam! Again, risking a diabetic coma! I've yet to understand how I've avoided weighing 500 lb.s by now...
P.S. Addaway, you are such a bADD boy..... I know what you were gettin' at there.... ;)
I get a kick of holding my husband's prized/new possessions hostage until he takes me out or buys me something I want.
Well "prized" may be a bit dramatic, but I have hidden his baseball glove and also his brand new expensive baseball bat in the past.
Please understand I'm doing it mostly to tease him. He seems to handle it okay.

-Violent revenge fantasies
I have no idea what the above says about me, but I'm sure it takes me out of the 'normal' category (oh, what a tragedy).

moonshine 08-10-08, 01:35 AM hi guys! i am in the process of preparing myself for a list to add to the confessional, but this one is something i am putting out before i forget.
i could REALLY care less, down the BOTTOM of my heart, but i cannot help gorging through a trashy magazine if i'm standing in line @ the grocery store or sometimes, even just passing by...
made it a firm rule to never purchase these things and i brush off my teenage sister who at times updates me about certain headlines, but sometimes it takes more than a couple of seconds to flip the channel away from inside edition or tmz or e! (i think those are the correct names).
none of it is useful, even helpful knowledge... but it sticks.
anybody know what i'm talking about?!
moonshine 08-10-08, 01:43 AM you know something that feels really good?
if you wear socks all day (i do not like socks btw) and then take them off right before you get in the bed... it FEELS GOOD!!!!
socks (and shoes) decrease neural firings in your brain with information about balance, supposedly healthier for the long run to go sockless @ times.
OH YOU KNOW WHAT!
i love new sneakers when they are like extra extra white. it is ALL downhill after that.
i also love singing in the shower and pretending that i'm mariah carey filming a music video.
uhoh, its starting to come out... (the confessions).
livinginchaos 08-10-08, 02:15 AM i have lots, but I'll just start with a few:
1 - i hate ice cream. seriously - hate it.
2 - i love to smell good (LUSH products are my fave)
3 - I have a HUGE stash of LUSH products, really. . too much for 1 person
4 - The Shag is one of my most favorite movies
5 - i can't stand to watch animated TV shows
6 - i eat creamy PB & potato chip sandwiches
7 - i have watched Sex & The City episodes so many times, when someone mentions Sex & The City episodes I can pretty much tell you all about the episode
8 - I relate a lot of things to TV shows - Sex & The City and FRIENDS (for instance, someone talks about Thanksgiving and I immediately think about the episode of FRIENDS where they play football to win the Troll trophy, and where Joey has a Turkey on his head, and where Chandler is in a box, Rachel makes a Shepard Tirimisu . .etc)
hmm . . only a few? this is only the tip of the iceberg, my friends :D
Grafter 08-10-08, 02:21 AM Mike & Ikes. Lots of them.
DotwithADD 08-10-08, 02:41 AM Okay, my guilty pleasures...
Eating chocolate (when I get a craving ... I HAVE to have some... my favorite is Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate).
I love Dairy Queen Blizzards... my favorite flavors (they vary upon my moods) are: Banana Split (with extra bananas and chocolate) and Reese's peanut butter cup pieces.
I LOVE meat - beef, mostly elk and venison. Okay chicken now and then.
I LOVE... or maybe I should say, I'm addicted to cheddar cheese! But, because I'm Lactose Intolerant... I have to be careful and not eat too much.
Can't think of anything else...
Just one note: yesterday we had no chocolate anything in the fridge or freezer (yup, no bluebell icecream:(), but in the fridge, I found a bottle of chocolate syrup. I opened it and squeezed it in my mouth. It was soooooooooo gooooood... then I did it again. Then I was happy. (Tonight I bought a Hershey's choc. bar (no almonds, though - just wanted the chocolate - I'm happy again:):)) Oh, I only ate half of that candy bar. Really!!!!
ustilago 08-10-08, 02:52 AM Greasy food. . . bacon and eggs over easy on top of a potato pancake, cooked serially in the grease from the bacon. My wife supplies all of the guilt for that pleasure.
I had the distinct pleasure of enjoying a double cheeseburger, onion rings and chocolate shake from Peter's Drive-thru (in Calgary, google it, the place hasn't changed much since 1962). Don't tell my wife, I'll never hear the end of it. . .
Floating an air-biscuit immediately before exiting an otherwise empty elevator.
# 31. Spending money I don't have. :(

Scheduling a vacation day so I can go to the salon
Getting my legs waxed. It hurts like H*LL, which I guess is a good pennance. And it costs a lot. But the feel of completely bare skin on freshly laundered sheets, or in silk pj's, is incredible.
Hmmm…
• Homemade strawberry cupcakes with chocolate icing
• McDonald’s small vanilla ice-cream cones
• A freshly laundered bed comforter
• Toasted bagels with cream cheese and crushed Doritos
