I've been taking ADD meds for a couple of years now. Was on generic Adderall for most of that and it worked pretty well until the I started blinking excessively. Now my doctor has me trying Strattera and I have to say I'm not feeling it. Or rather, I am feeling it but not in a good way.

My doctor started me on it in stages, with 18mg for a week, then 25mg, then 40mg and now 60mg. As I was moving from 40mg to 60mg I started feeling really weird. The best way I can describe it is that my head feels full of compressed air. Heavy, but empty. I'm having a hard time concentrating on anything because I really just want to stare off into space. Which isn't helping me at work at all, I actually had to take a sick day today because I couldn't focus on the tasks I needed to do. And I just feel generally run-down.

Has anyone else had side-effects like this? I know that I often have atypical reactions to brain-altering meds, but I thought I'd check.

I'm thinking I may just have to put up with some blinking in my life.

What dosage of adderal were you on?

With the Strattera.. what time of day do you take the med?

Adderall - Was on 30mg in the morning, tried cutting it back to 15mg in the morning, still blinking but not as bad.

Strattera - I take it in the morning. I tried taking it in the evening at first, but had trouble sleeping.

k..... my suggestion is going to be..

See if the doctor will put you back on the Adderal...

Is the 15mg one pill? see if you can split in half.. so you're taking 7.5 in the a.m. ....and the other 7.5 at lunch.

Our daughter did the split dosage..and the tics stopped. At first she was on her full dosage in the a.m....and when she would get horrible rebound, we decided (the doc and I) to split her dosage..she did much better.

Strattera doesn't always work for some people...While it works great for many. Once in a while, someone is prescribed that it has totally no effect on.

p.s.... I'm not a doctor...and it's JMO.
