1] WHICH ONES WORK BEST FOR YOU DURING SCHOOL?
2]WHICH ONES DIDNT WORK SO WELL DURING SCHOOL ?
If youre in high school, Adderall XR is a good one. Personally I prefer Dexedrine hands down, but they're essentially the same thing to someone who hasn't taken this class of meds before.
If youre in college and have school a couple hours a day rather than 7+ then IR works better. No sense in taking a full days [Extended Release] dose if you've only got one class that day, right?

I'm not a doctor or an ADDer. Just a wife and mom of ADDers. This is how I explained it to my 17 yr old DD:
Adderall IR and XR have both the left (levo) and right (dextro) molecules of amphetamine. The d-amp stimulates your central nervous system (brain) and the l-amp stimulates your peripheral nervous system (body). If you have problems being kind of sluggish and inattentive, you may need the "kick in the pants" the l-amp provides. If you're already hyperactive, the l-amp might be too much stimulation.
Over they years, DD has been on Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana (all have levo and dextro), Focalin (dextro only), Adderall XR with IR boosters (l- and d-) and Vyvanse (dextro only). She was hyperactive as a child but is now more small-motor fidgety and impulsive - "Combined" type. She tends towards inertia, so for her the Adderall XR + IR works better than the others.
It all depends on your particular symptoms, your metabolism, etc. Unfortunately, one size doesn't fit all.

thats interesting to know, i actually have super duper fast metabolism, i been 5'6, 140lbs like my whole life....
so your saying.... d-amp is for the brain, indicating that would make you smarter in class?
and the l-amp, is if your not being to kind/sweet ? idk if i understood wrong.

Help me out folks on Adderall . . .
The d-amp makes it easier to focus on what you're supposed to be doing, ignore background noises that are normally distracting, quiet the "noise" in your brain, etc. If you have plenty of "get up and go" and are high energy, that may be sufficient. It doesn't make you smarter, it just enables you to better use your own abilities.
The l-amp seems to stimulate energy level, so if you'd rather "lie down and stay" you may need that. It doesn't really improve mood, just makes it easier to get going on the things you need to do.
Schoolwork may be boring no matter what you take. You can't fix a dull subject or a dull teacher. But meds should help you do that boring stuff because it has to be done.
Here's a link on what you should look for with medications:

Hopefully you'll get feedback from people who've actually taken meds for ADHD. I can only tell you what I observe with my daughter and what she's told me.

I take concerta during the school year, and adderall for the summer. I work best on my school work with concerta, but for my job during the summer adderall is very helpful.
