I've been putting off calling a therapist. Well, I did call someone last week, but he dropped my insurance. It took me another week to try again.
This afternoon my boss asked me to cut back my hours. Not that I was working a ton of overtime, but maybe 7 extra hours per week. And since I'm only part time, that doesn't get me any OT. But my point is, I just lost some income for a while. I'm underpaid as it is and was using the hours to try to make ends meet a little better.
I need to get my head out of the clouds and do something about my situation, but can't seem to get motivated. I claim I don't have time, but what I really need to do is make the time. Yet, my mind and body refuse to do so.
I needed to make the appointment. I have to get this fixed. It's killing me.

It is a daily struggle. I feel like what you describe just about every other day. I use my daughter as a motivator. Do you have someone or something that you can use as either a motivator or a goal?

LOL! I have lots of goals. My kids. My fiance. Being able to spend time with both. Not being a work-a-holic to make money, but use the skills I know I have to work more efficiently. There has to be a balance between family and money, yet the wolves are always howling at the door wanting more. What do you do?
For me, my goal is to hone my skills and freelance. The end result being flexibility and control over my career to allow me to optimize my time with my family. But if I can't keep up the motivation in my office job, how will I do it at home? I know I have the skill. The office job is giving me valuable experience and the opportunity to advance those skills. However I lack the ability right now to use my time wisely. I feel like I'm moving in a million different directions except for the one I want to be going in.
Thanks. :)

Alright, how about creating a goal for yourself involving your family? Do you take vacations? Is there something your kids want that you haven't been able to provide for them or just haven't had the time to do?
I would want to find a purpose, a goal, or create a short or long-term project for myself that has some sort of reward in the end. I learned long ago, a lesson my mother taught me, that if you create a reward for yourself you will find enjoyment in what you do, regardless of how small that reward is. If it is a vacation you want to use as a goal decide where you want to go. Decide on the budget you think you will need....then add 10%. Put it on a calendar in your office and then figure out how to make it work.
You have the power to make your ADD work for you. One thing I have always liked about my abilities is the tasks that I have been assigned and been given free reign as to how I want to get the task accomplished. The problem is for some people, me included sometimes, is getting motivated enought to even come up with a goal or task to keep my interest in the day to day. Maybe you should find a mentor or a coach of some sort to help you establish a goal or project that you can focus your attention on.
If you were to do this you could then assign yourself daily tasks that will help you get to your ultimate goal, whatever it is. I was just using the vacation idea as an example. Does that make sense?

If it is health insurance you need can't you apply for Medicaid?

I once made appointments with a talk therapist just so I'd have someone to help me keep on track. I thought it would be easier for me to get things done and stay on track if I had someone to answer to. It would've been kinda embarassing for the therapist to ask me how my week went and to then tell her that I just lounged around and wasted time, got nothing done.:D
If you can afford it I say go for it and make the appointment. Just calling and doing it might make you feel better by getting a task done.;)

I don't qualify for medicaid... funny how my income is barely enough to scrape by, yet I'm nowhere near eligible for gov't help. But that's another issue! LOL! I pay for insurance out of my pocket. When I said the doc dropped it, I meant he doesn't honor it anymore. I needed to find someone who does. (And who will return my phone calls)
It's bad enough when I can't motivate myself, then when I do make the necessary calls, no one returns the phone call. Then I'm back to square one in getting up the nerve to call again... or call someone who cares. LOL!
But with vacation a week away, I'm just going to wait. Why bother now? I'm not going to get anything this week.
