Greetings, Im a 47 yo male. Over the last year or so I find myself unable to complete simple tasks. for example I cant do my mail, so it piles up for weeks. When I start i cant keep my eye on the one envelope in front of me and start worrying about the pile. Bills get paid late. I have not filed my taxes in two years, now the IRS is sending me notifications. i can no longer read for enjoyment. I missed jury duty now Im sure there is a warrant awaiting me. I am otherwise healthy and quit my career after 24 successful years. I think my inability to cope with the things in front of me led to my early retirement. I heard a person on the radio describe the way his life was going being unable to focus. it was me to a 'T'. I think I may suffer from ADD but I have no understanding of this condition. Any insight perhaps? Anyway thanks for reading, ad.

Hey!
Where to start?

An evaluation. Many have been evaluated by a neuropsych, as was my son. It was the best thing. If you go through one, you will learn about yourself; your strengths and weaknesses, and they will give you ideas on how you can cope and manage, and perhaps have resources available to you as well for counseling, therapy, coaching, etc. A neurophychiatrist can also move along to medication treatments too.

REad away on the boards here too, you will learn a lot. Welcome to the family! :-)

welcome...

I agree.. get an evaluation... your doctor will then be able to help you with a plan of action to get your ADD under control.
