I have been getting extra accomodations due to a very kind support worker at college despite not having any real diagnosis of any condition. I can't help but feel guilty about it though like im a sham. But in your opinion should students be able to have accomodations for whatever they're having trouble with regardless of whether they have a condition (ADD, dyslexia etc) or not? i.e. even if its not just 'undxed condition' but there isn't actually one.

Hey, I appreciate your desire to be fair and to not have, if I'm reading you correctly, unfair advantages over others.

But actually I think you're coming at this the wrong way. The question for you might better be this: how does this extra support help me achieve my goals in life? And how does this support help me practice getting less support? And ... am I learning more this way than I would on my own?

Those are the questions--the fairness thing is one of these points you could argue till the end of time ... focus on if this is indeed helpful to you. Are you learning more? Are you figuring out your learning patterns so that you could perhaps informally ask for more support in life. (I got through college because my college roommate and close friend grabbed me everytime there was a deadline and a form we have to fill out. Without him there, I would have missed all these deadlines--in fact I did miss them in grad school and didn't get my degree til the following winter even though I had completed my coursework.)

I think you will know this is unhealthy if you can get A pluses without much effort.

Anyway, good luck.

Yes.... a person should be able to get help where needed. No matter if they're *labeled* or not.

I tutored kids since 4th grade on through 12th,.. who needed extra help with things. That was long before ADHD was known about or diagnosed. Looking back... the kids I helped.. would now be labeled, *ADHD*, and they deserved help..as much as anyone else.
