Wow.

Why? Is it because of their noises of eating and drinking, or what is it exactly that makes you feel or think that?

Irishbarry

It's the noise they make.
I just cannot stand it. I leave the room whenever this happens. I also get the same way when i can hear two sources of load sound. ie. tv and kids screaming.
Sorry, but i just can't help it:rolleyes:

Oh, I hear you, I understand! That clarifies the issue. It takes guts to come on here and say that. :-)

The thing that is striking me then, is do you have some auditory sensory issues, like things you hear overload you? I know a little about this from the children's perspective, they can act out behaviouraly and it affects many aspects.

I do have those issues. Mainly auditory i think. I've had this issue with eating/slurping/slapping of lips etc all my life. I do not know how to fix it or control it.
Thanks for listening:o

I think I know what you are experiencing. When I was younger, not anymore, something would bother me so greatly much I would feel hot with anger, every nerve on edge, and literally physically uncomfortable, like in the core of my body. At puberty it was at its worst. (PMS anyone? LOL!) I tried not to let it show, or like you, just remove myself from the area and calm down, because it's not their fault, I knew it's just my reaction (over-reaction).

Have you ever had a workup to maybe look at sensory issues and/or other issues that can be treated? A neuropsych eval? I am writing a couple of moms with kids about the neuropsych evals right now on the board, so it's fresh on my mind and how revealing they are, to have a name put on the issue and treatment options, meds, or other therapies put out there. It's frightening and relieving at the same time. I had one done for my son. Best thing. Have you gone that route yet?

I know I have OCD tendencies and anxiety issues, along with some sensitivities, that I am sure caused me to be overly sensitive, over reactive, over-angry, over-ruminating (caring waaaayyyy to much about people's habits, things most people overlook).

..... There are days.. I suffer from noises being too loud. It's part of the sensory disorder.

It's usually worse during that time.. but also when a migraine is coming on. At least for me.

The ticking of the clock can even be too loud.
The wind blowing.
Cars going by.
Cats playing or mewing.

The list goes on...but yes, I do have a problem. I have to walk away and get to where it's quiet... as soon as I can.

Luckily .. I know the triggers and can guage how quickly I need to get some alone time.

the first person I would kill is myself.
................but, I'm non violent, and would never hurt me.

you do realize they are real, and it's not a cartoon.

what's intresting is the avatar..... your baby and you, and the pacifier.

....how does that make you feel?

I got 2 friends that are psychiatric nurses...I'll ask them what they think

..and tell you what they say.

Ok Suzzanne, since you brought up the baby!

are you on ADHD meds?
....are you ADHD?
have you thought about anti psychotic meds?
.....when you feel like killing, does the person seem real to you?
or like a movie running?
......can you sympathise with other peoples pain?
do you make noise when you eat?

ADDAWAY

Do you make chewy or slurpy noises when you consume their murdered flesh?

I could kill when that happens. ;)

dude, this is a SERIOUS issue..
....I even researched it and, yeah, theres people bothered by noises,
but not to the point of murder.

.....it's not going to get better with age.

are you fantasizing about it?.... how you would kill them?

little babys, gurgle and slurp, and gross me out...but not to the point of killing them.

My funnybones are gettin' brittle so I best go put them to bed!

Sorry, no offense intended to those who suffer from hearing issues. I can't hear well but only blackboard clawing and loud cacophonous groups really do me in. I'm sure that'll get worse when I order my hearing aids.

This discussion really had me worried, I agree with Mary, I have sensitivity to noises at the onset of a migraine, but never felt like extinguishing a life over it, frankly don't have the energy at that point anyway.

you are not alone, a lot of adhd people have noise sensitivities

I think it is highly unusual to really want to kill someone, surely you're exaggerating?

At the American House Hotel, where Hardin had put up for the night, he began firing bullets through a bedroom wall simply to stop the snoring of a stranger in the next room. The first bullet merely woke the man; the second killed him.

Good thing you do not have my job for I sit between two who chomp and snap their gum all day long although they have slowed down a bit since I said something to them. I also have a new lady that sits behind me and she eats all day long and you can hear it all. I love having to do home visits for I get away for a while and am not sitting in one place all day.

Sorry, when i said i'd like to murder someone, it's not that i would or anything. It's just a figure of speech to give you an idea how i feel.

I'm torn between feeling smug that I knew he wasn't seriously going to murder people,

and dismayed that others weren't sure he wasn't.

and I too get that feeling with certain noises.

murder is not a word I would choose to describe anything but murder.

What about "kill?"

Isn't that the word you would use to express Irishbarry's feeling about those sounds when you're not using the word literally (unless the context suggests otherwise)?

Maybe it's just the language/pop culture barrier?

Irishbarry

addaway is right.
We have a lot more meanings for words as yourselves in the states etc.
Like ( i'd murder a pint ! :D)

I grew up with use of those words all the time and in reading this, and as usual re-reading

I thought, " does everyone really think he is serious"? Then I thought I wonder if it is weird to use those words. Then realized everyone was joking but I know I have gotten weird looks from my choice of word and blurting them out. I say all the time,

"if you don't stop whatever I will poke your eyes out".
"I'm going to murder you and tell God you died"
"do you want to be my next victim"
"if I have to look at such and such again I will poke MY eyes out"
"honey, the way you take care of the bad ones are a little arsenic and good cooking"
"oH go stick your head in the oven and turn on the gas"

And for boyfriends that tell me how to cook while hovering, I will pick up a knife point it at him, and firmly say, "please leave"!

This is all in fun, plus I dont have any kids around that hear it. My animals have no idea because I use a really nice tone of voice, most of the time;).

My mother has always said things like this too and will do it in public. Most people think its funny but some really are disturbed by it.

DeloresMelon
05-17-08, 05:26 PM
I tell my kids all the time i'm going to beat them. Granted they laugh at me.

On rare occasions, it's I'm going to "beat you with a Volkswagen".

I tell my husband "I'm going to kill you" or when venting to my mother about my husband "I'm going to kill him". The dog frequently hears me say "I'm gonna murder that dog".

It's an emphasis of the frustration. I don't actually intend to murder anyone, or beat my kids with or without a Volkswagen.

Texasmissb: that post #31 of yours is soooo funny that I woke myself up out of a slumbering, ready-to-log off state! Still, one must enjoy the crisp sheets and snuggly blanket and kill off some awake-time at some point!

Haha, I frequently joke about shooting the dog. Not my dog. I used to do dog obedience and so I can't stand dogs that don't mind.

Haha, pretty much. I really hate the sound of people chewing...

But there are some sounds I LOVE.

Like the sound of a diesel engine growling, humming and purring. Especially a Dodge. Somehow Dodge has that purrfect diesel growl down just right.

Ford/Chevy/GM diesels sounds great too though. Especially the older ones.

And I LOVE the sound of spurs jingling. Hooves clip clopping. Creak of leather. Those are good sounds.
