Hello!

I started taking Vyvanse at 30 a day... now I'm at 45 and still nothing much going on... so in two days it'll be 60. What is the average adult dose and then the highest before they try a different drug? Actually-- I do have an appetite decrease (although that is the Topomax, too). But no energy pick-up which is sad to me :-(.

I'm not sure what the highest recommended adult dose is, but it is 75mg for children. I believe that Vyvanse has just recently (last month) been approved for adult use. Although, it has been prescribed to adults by the use of "off label" prescriptions since it's first FDA approval. This is my 3rd month on Vyvanse and now at 50mg. 30mg didn't do anything. Bumped up to 50mg and it was effective for about 3 weeks. Slowly it became less and less effective. Somedays it would work some and other days not at all. The duration would vary day to day also. Doc wanted to keep me at 50mg for another month to see if I would adjust. If not, possibly going up or try something else. At this point it doesn't work at all. On my own, I've double up,and it works much better. So from personal experience, I've found that 75mg probably would not cut it for me. I tolerate 100mg well. It still doesn't last 12 hours. I'm not sure if it's the right med for me. Anywho, I've heard of adults prescribed 100mg-120mg.

Vyvanse was used in doses up to 150mg in clinical trials prior to receiving FDA approval. The results showed that 150mg of Vyvanse was equal in terms of effectiveness and 'likability' to taking 40mg of d-amphetamine.

I just don't understand the use of some of these meds when seemingly the results are not what they claim to be .

I just spoke to my doctor. We are both very pleased that my lithium is working so well at 900 mg and don't want the exhaustion its causing to deter me from wanting to take it, so she wants me to try 60 m of Vyance tomorrow. If no change, 75 mg on Thur and tops of 90 before I see her again next Thursday.
