Hey everyone

I need a bit of advice. I am almost on my second weeks of Concerta 36mg after switching from Ritalin 10mgx3/day. It doesn't feel anything like the Ritalin (don't think its working) and I have started to notice some blood in the urinal after I pee. Has anyone had anything like this? It it something to worry about or does it go away? (just a side effect?)

My son ison concerta 54mg and I have not ever read of blood in the urine being a side affect. My advice is you should see a doctor. It may be totally unrelated to your meds but definately something that needs to be looked at.

Blood in the urine is a common problem. The medical term for red blood cells in the urine is hematuria. Sometimes blood in the urine is a sign of a serious problem in the urinary tract, while other times it is not serious and requires no treatment. Only after a thorough evaluation by a healthcare provider should blood in the urine be attributed to a non-serious cause.

'Raver's' haematuria.

Strenuous exertion is a recognized cause of haematuria but full investigation is still required to exclude any serious underlying pathology. Heavy exercise and amphetamine abuse can both cause rhabdomyolysis and acute renal failure. The recent popularity of 'rave parties' has highlighted these problems in young people who attend the all-night dance parties where a minority of them abuse drugs such as amphetamines. We describe a case of rhabdomyolysis following ingestion of amphetamines during a rave party, where the patient was diagnosed early, presenting acutely with frank haematuria.
