View Full Version : I have a fever!! Yes it is a big deal!~!
Jellybean 03-08-04, 02:57 AM I can not remember having a fever in many years no matter how sick I got. It always worried me as I am so immunocompromised.
So I work up sick sore throat, had a rehearsal. I promised to take my son and his buddies to a party and went anyway against my better judgement, got sicker cause it was really windy.
Anyway, this morn I took my temp, cause I felt I was burning up.
I was below normal as ussual but higher. I was at least in the 98's. So I had a "Janine Fever".
Now I have taken my temp three times and it is on the rise, I am up to 100.7. I know I sound like a sicko to take it so well.
But if I am going to be sick I want a fever to fight it off! Yeehaw, I think it's cozy to sleep with a fever. Just hope I get better!!
Hope you get well soon. I rarely get fevers but last time I was sick in Jan I did get one.
Jim
Jellybean 03-08-04, 03:14 AM Oh so it's not just me. I must step down from my weirdo pedalstool. I guess grownups don't get them as much??
I get sick a lot but try to out run it mostly.
Thanks for the get well wishes, jim.
Nucking_Futs 03-08-04, 03:23 AM I hope you get to feeling better but please keep in mind there is a really viscous strain of strep throat going around. I should know took me two different antibiotics and a shot to get over it.
Nucking_Futs 03-08-04, 03:26 AM p.s. my daughter Lexi is the same way was flown to Children's hospital with a major infection had 4 operations and temp never went above a hundred.
In Jan it is the worst I have flet in sometime. It is the 1st fever I havehad in about 5 years. Anyway drink lots of liquid and get better.

SubtleMuttle 03-08-04, 03:43 AM Hope this passes quickly, fevers can be good just keep an eye on it.
Wear a scarf outside, I know it can be a hassle but helps keep the elements from aggravating it; but you probably know this already.
Tea with slippery elm is awesome for soothing sore throats.
When I get fevers I try to get lots of sleep, and use extra extra blankets to help sweat it out. If I'm not too sick that usually sleeps it off.
Yeehaw is a good approach, hope you feel better in the morning.
I get fevers. I tend not to notice them though. Heh. I get weird sick in other ways. Colds (may they rot in H***) seem to last forever, but fortunately I rarely get them, even as a smoker. Flu I usually don't get either, I'm sure the fact that the Navy likes to vaccinate me for stuff I've never heard of and always throws a couple flu shots in there helps, but I never really have gotten it that often. When I do, it never lasts long at all. I tend to get violently ill for a very short period then I'm done. Some folks get the 24 hour flu, I get the four hour flu. I'm sure I'm contagious longer than that, but the symptoms are there and gone. Respitory flus are usually gone within 24 hours of symptoms. They make me ache something feirce though! I like to go for a nice long run and sit in the sauna for as long as I can stand it then shower, drink all the water I can stand and go to bed. It takes the ache out.
Nucking_Futs 03-08-04, 09:17 AM slippery elm? were exactly would a person find that.
Jellybean 03-08-04, 12:55 PM You can find slippery elm in healthfood stores it's an herb. Actually even walmart carry's slipperyelm products.
THANKS for the get well wishes. I am way sicker today and fearfull about the strep throat thingy. I had to force myself to feed my kid,
he is just running wild outside, he never stops finding things to do. Which means messes!
Nucking_Futs 03-08-04, 12:57 PM janine perhap's now is the time to see your physician. I know as a mother myself easier said then done when all you really wanna do is crawl back into bed. But, perhap's whatever you have needs a little kick in the butt with some antibiotics. And I am so sorry to hear you are still not feeling well. HUGS and homemade chicken noodle soup.
Jellybean 03-08-04, 04:03 PM Thanks Mrs Futs, I just called off tomorrows rehearsal. I have got to get a little better by wed to teach. Then I have two outdoor gigs. That will be demanding. I am spending useless time worrying about beiing sick, maybe... I should go to the doctors. I haven't done antibiotics in a long time. You are right futs, I will make an appointment. I don't even have a doctor, usually I survive.
But the idea of antibiotics sounds appealing right now, as in the case of it being worse than I think. I am going through the achy everything stage.
I am the real natural healing freak, but am getting uptight about how I will manage if I don't start feeling better in a few days.
I have a lot of obligations to meet. I can not cancel wedding jobs.
A few times I have played when I felt I was dying. Don't want to feel this way this weekend. Luckily Teaching is more forgiving.
Janine
J9 sorry your feeling worse today. You sound like you had what I had in January. I did get over it without meds other than robitussin and ibuprofin. I skipped 3 days, but I did not feel great for a couple of weeks. I did not get strep, but this was the first time in a year and a half I had missed work. Hope you get well soon!!!
pembroke 03-08-04, 09:10 PM janine - i'm the exact opposite. i never get a fever that doesn't start at 100. if i'm at 102, it's no big deal. my husband and son are the ones who don't get fevers. last time my husband nearly died on us - no fever, even with severe peritonitis, but an elevated white blood count. go figure.
anyway, hope you're better..
wlfbear27 03-08-04, 10:12 PM If I ever started running a fever I'd probably think I was dying even when I had Mono the doctors were confused cuz my fever only got up to 99. They said I should have been burning up. Yep that's me always gotta be different. Hope you feel better.
