so here's the deal, i am 99% happy with Strattera, but that 1% is kind of a big one. i have had issues with the consistency of getting and/or maintaining an erection. because of mine and my fiancee's work schedules (mon-fri, me on nights, her on days) sex really only can happen on the weekends, so my solution has just been to not take it on our days off. this has been pretty effective. now, i am wanting to take the Strattera all week because i sleep so much better and get more stuff done when i take it, but not at the risk of having no sex life.

i am due to get my prescription refilled in a couple days, so i am trying to figure out what options i should discuss with my doctor. since i am getting married in a couple months, i am not really looking to start experimenting with a bunch of stuff and having to worry about possible side effects (sexual or otherwise) coming up during our honeymoon, not when i know i can "make this work". should i check into something like Cialis, Levitra or Viagra to counter the effects as needed? also, if i stick with my current solution, is the potency/effectiveness of the Strattera during the week being reduced by not taking it over the weekends?

as a little background, i am 28. my doctor stepped me up from 10mg to 80mg over the course of 5 or 6 weeks, before we settled on 60mg being what i was happiest on. i haven't had any side effects that bother me to any degree, other than the one i mentioned.

Talk to your doctor about Viagra or one of the other choices. Don't feel awkward. I would assume he will suggest you take your med every day. I have an RX for 100mg Viagra and cut them in half because my insurance only covers 5/month. This gives me 10 50's which works for me. At 47 and married 17 years, I proudly use all 10 just about every month.;)

ok, i went to my appointment the other day. i explained the above stuff to my doctor and he told me that not taking it on the weekends would be fine, and that they actually recommend that sometimes with patients who specifically take this (or other ADD meds) to focus during school or their 9 to 5 job. since, however, i was looking to start taking my Strattera every day, he gave me samples of Viagra (50mg), Levitra (10mg), and Cialis (10mg) and told me to test them out and see what works best for me. He did mention the pill cutting as an option to save money or increase what's available depending on my coverage. now i gotta check into what Caremark is gonna let me have and what it's gonna cost me.

the drug holidays are ok with stimulants, which take effect immediately and wear off after a number of hours, but strattera doesn't work that way. i am surprised your doc suggested this at first. not to say he doesn't know what he's talking about, but they're are plenty of docs out there who don't. at any rate, good luck with the other meds (viagra, etc.) and let us know how you fare.
