Just curious how much some of you are taking? My husband is taking 40 mgs a day (20 in the morning and 20 in the afternoon) and I'm wondering if that's considered a lot. I take 60 mgs of the regular Adderall in three doses so I don't consider the mg amount much, but I know the XR acts differently than the regular. I've never taken the XR so I don't have any experience with it.

Everyone is different. I work fine off 20mg XR. Some people need 100+.

I was prescibed 20mg. a day. When my docter handed me the Rx said "you might need more." I have experimented a little bit. One 20mg. a day makes very little. Two 20mg. is an improvement. 30mg. a day actully worked. I have not gone any higher yet because I am too low. But I have already got an appt. for next Wednesday. I left the doctor a message saying what I said above she is booked up this week and the soonest I can see her is Wednesday. I feel that 3 or 4 a day would be just about perfect. I will have to see what my doctor says. I feel that I need at least 3 or 4 20mg. a day. I know they are "extended release" but as usual for me they do not work all day. I am lucky to get 5 or six hours of relief from one 20mg. So in my opinion 60mg. a day sounds totally reasonable. As mochi said everybody's body and their body chemistry and metabolism is different. Not to mention some people are already on other medications.
