View Full Version : Strattera and slowness and depression

hello.

i just started taking strattera yesterday. just my first pill, so i understand that i obviously can't expect anything I am feeling to be something that lasts, or even necessarily attributable to stattera. but i have heard of people saying strattera made them feel sluggish or slow (and tired). and i have seen people mention depression. and today i would have to say that i don't really feel tired, but my mind and my body seem like they are going in slow-motion to some degree. like my body has been out in the cold and my fingers and hands can't work as quickly as usual and my mind is not thinking as quickly either.

i also have been kind of down. but i think that started before i took the pill. i've been taking 200mg of zoloft for over a decade and recently decided to wean off of it because i don't think it's working anymore. i'm down to 50mg and that could also be the reason for the depression -possibly part of discontinuation syndrome (as depression is not something I really have a problem with normally).

anyway, has anyone else ever felt like strattera might be slowing your body down and hindering your coordination, or felt that way when you started it? by the way, i am starting on 25mg for a week and then supposed to go to 50mg. i've tried ritalin and adderall and didn't get much benefit.

thanks.

There are many people that I know who have been on anti depressents for 20 years. You could be depressed and the lack or lower dosage of Zoloft could be the problem. Problem is, its hard to tell what is going on if you are changing two drugs around at the same time. Hard to tell what the problem is.... Good luck

thanks. you may be right. though, like i said depression was never really the issue. i started zoloft because of OCD and anxiety. but my body and mind might be adjusting to the change in dose (though i have been going extremely slowly in my tapering efforts). i was planning on waiting to try the strattera after i completely stopped the zoloft. but it was going to be another couple months before i was completely off it, and then i was planning on waiting yet another 2-3 months before making any other changes, just to be completely sure i was ok without the zoloft. the psychiatrist said i should stay at the 50mg of zoloft if i start the strattera now. so that's the plan, and i guess i will continue on the zoloft for a while since it will be quite some time before i know if the strattera will work.

ah, so hard to be patient sometimes.
