I was taking 50 mg of Vyvanse for the last year or so. I quit my old job and had to change health insurance. The new health insurance didn't want to approve me for Vyvanse so the doctor put me on what he thought was close to Vyvanse, Concerta 54mg.

So Friday I just started taking the 54 mg Concerta. I got so sick. I was so nauseas and out of it. Today is day two and it has gotten to the point of me trying to make myself throw up this mornings pill. It didn't work, my eyes felt like they were going to pop out of my head. The headache is awful. I'm shaking, I can't eat because it makes me so nauseas after. I'm just drinking water.

I called the doctor and he isn't there today and his receptionist said that he will write me a new scrip on Monday. I told her I am done with this Concerta and if I have to pay for Vyvanse every month I will.

Now I don't know what to do. I have to go off all meds for the next two days, Sunday Monday. What is this going to do to me. I think I am withdrawing off the Vyvanse pretty bad, it's only made worse by the fact I won't eat due to the nausea.

I'm so frustrated, is there anything that I can do to take the edge off of just quitting cold turkey? Gosh my head is so cloudy, I hope I am making sense.

Thanks,
Heather

Afterthought- my husband takes Adderall xr, he said I should just take one of his pills tomorrow, but I don't know if I should mix all these meds in my system. Any thoughts? I took Adderall xr before I took Vyvanse, the Adderall didn't give me enough suppression of symptoms so we switched to Vyvanse.

Your doctor MUST have an emergency number or an emergency answering service. (At least most do.) Can you call that?

You might also try the emergency room of a hospital. Take the bottles with you ... they MIGHT be able to help.

You might try to halve the concerta dose ......man, good luck. This is terrible to be left in that position.

Well he knows what is going on since I talked to his receptionist today and she said she was going to call him. I figure since I told her I was in hell and just wanted to die and throw up at the same time this morning, that if he was really concerned he would call me and check on me or go down and sign my scrip today, but I haven't gotten a call from him or her. So he must not be that worried.

I will survive I just don't think it's going to be pretty. I really don't enjoy the ER, I was there a few months ago for a miscarriage. I would rather be at home and be miserable than there.

Tat, next time I would call back. The reason: the receptionist could have easily forgotten your request in the midst of running around on other tasks.

Anyway, hope you are doing Ok.

I'm suprised you were started off on 54mg of Concerta from day 1. That isn't a high dose but not a low one either. Concerta can cause stomach problems and a lot of your symptoms may be simply because you've started a brand new class of medication of which symptoms usually do appear. Your doctor may want to start on a low dose then slowly work up.
