This is one of the main reasons that I was looking for a forum like this today! Have any of you took two doses because you forgot that you took the first? If so, what were your side effects?

This morning we were putting up our new pool and I got so busy that I forgot about taking my first dose. About 9am I "thought" that I had forgotten to take my dose and took another by mistake. Let me tell you - I had a crazy day! My heart was beating like crazy, my head felt like someone was balling up aluminum foil in it, had terrible anxiety and I got in a terrible fight with my teenage daughter. I decided to count my meds around 2pm and realised my mistake.

It has taken up to now to start to feel normal again. In other words, I had 40mg of adderall first thing this morning! I hope I never make that mistake AGAIN!

I took one and a half pills once to see if I could get better results. I got just the opposite. I felt like crap, overly stimulated and with a bad headache. I don't understand how people can abuse this stuff. It's not a fun feeling.

I'm glad you survived. Well, that's one way to find out for sure that you shouldn't be on a higher dose!

You guys have around 10 posts, that and along with the content of your posts suggests to me that you haven't been on adderall long, in about a year you'll probably start to wish that 40 mg did for you what 20mg once did..

But i have decided to go and buy a pill organiser from the phamacy, so i can sort out my meds every morning, i will let you know if this works. Im sure many ADDers have the same problem!!!

Purerealm- I hear ya!! Sometimes I feel like my normal dosing isn't enough and will take an extra dose or a pill and a half for one dose.

To the OP- Yes I've done this, by accident and on purpse. When I first started Adderally, I felt pretty buzzed, slight headache and my heart would race. It was an uncomfortable feeling definitely. Though I must say that i don't really get this anymore having been on and off Adderall (mostly ON) for over 4 years now.

well that's actually one of the best things about adderall: it's almost impossible to reach a dangerous or even lethal dose. First you get the headache, then you throw up, then you pass out, and that's that. Usually your head hurts too much to take anymore....I'm pretty sure I read this in some journal...atleast i hope so:D

Rabbit it works pretty good, the organizer. I have two of them different colors for morning and night. I fill mine up on Sunday morning for the following week. Then keep them by whatever you do first in the morning so you remember to take them

Yes as a matter of fact, yesterday and I did not have any side effects. Accidents do happen. As far as what purerealm says I disagree. I have been on narcotic pain medication for chronic pain for 31 going on 32 years and tolerance is just a natural occurence when you have a chronic condition. So what 4 Percocets did for my pain from having bone cancer 31 years ago now takes 500mg. of OxyContin. It is just simply the way our bodies work and part of life. I am not worried that the drug makers are going to quit making pills either. Maurice

ttjc- I beg your pardon if what I say here in no way applies to your dilemma, but I also have had such episodes where I couldn't remember if I had taken my medication or not. Which leads me to wonder if your getting an ample ammount of "real" sleep? It seems that some degree of short-term memory impairment is a well known side effect with taking stimulant medications. I use to worry about this a lot when it became evident that I was forgetting simple things (such as not remembering taking a pill) but I gradually come to realize that it was more due to a lack of good sleep which is hard to do for some while taking stimulant meds. When I learned ways to get better sleep, my memory issues faded substantially as well. (I take sleep days or tylenol PM) I've not had such a spell since over a year ago. I'm also a lover of coffee and have to limit it greatly to avoid bad side effects. Coffee with adderall can also cause problems for many in this regard. Just something for thought should it relate to your situation.

I'm very likely to forget in the morning after getting up that I took my medication. I have on occasion taken it twice. I don't feel horrible, but know that I've taken more than I want. Too much doesn't increase the benefit of Adderall for me, as a matter of fact I start expperiancing a reverse affect that makes me feel that my ADHD has gotten worse.

I have learned to try not to do things absent mindedly. I need to make a purposeful effort when taking my meds so that I can remember. I have my pill bottles in a row and I start thinking about other things as I take them. I dont take my pills with anything to drink, so when I walk away to get a glass of water, I sometimes find myself wondering if I took all my pills.:o

*Laughing*...good point roly poly! There are times when I'm in such modes that I go into another room with something in mind to do, and bounce off to this, that, or another, then later have to walk back because I lost track of the original task. Thank goodness such mindset subsides by morning.
