I know this is a bit long, I really need some input by people who understand.
I was on Concerta 54 QD for years and years. I had to eventually add Ritilan in the afternoon. It all quit working. Also I had such rebound effects in the afternoon. My symptoms of ADHD had come back with a vengence. I do not remember having urinary problems, muscle tics or any weight gain on those two meds.

Now I am on Adderall XR 15 mg QD and 10 mg IR up to TID. I have heartburn ALL of the time. (Reglan has helped some) I have some weird symptoms with my bladder, my abdominal muscles are so sore from tightening and letting go constantly (When I notice I'm doing it I stop) I have gained 7 pounds. I do get irritable at the end of the day. (Meds wearing off) but I think my sx of ADHD are better. I can't take the side effects.

I also have HYPOTHYROIDISM. My symptoms are so intertwined. I feel like I'm going crazy.

MY GP won't treat my Hypothyroid because my TSH levels are all over the place and one Cortisol level was high.

My Endocrinologist says "your levels are within normal limits. Come back in the fall for blood work and continue your Levoxyl at 150 mcg. (My TSH is almost 3. Way to high for me)

My Allergy doctor says, here is a script for an additional 25 mcg of Levoxyl to help with the heartburn which annoys my asthma which annoys my cough.

My psych doctor says here is an order to get your lab work done.

I have to many doctors granted I have several medical conditions that warrant this. I just don't know what to do anymore. I am allowing it to make me CRAZY.

Is this ADHD, Hypothyroidism or am I just CRAZY and NEUROTIC

I do not remember having urinary problems

Some noradrenic drugs can cause urinary hesitancy in some people. (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11872327?ordinalpos=7&itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsP anel.Pubmed_RVDocSum)

I have hypothyroidism to and notice when I was on too high a dose I got acid reflux. I would cough for months and have sore throat as result. I've read people that have the opposite though(acid reflux on low/no thyroid meds).

CompleteChaos, all the problems you are having is EXACTLY why I prefer to see one single primary doctor. I call it "one stop shopping." This way my doctor sees me and all the effects of my different medicines are having on my different conditions. From chronic pain, high cholestral, ADD, GERD[heartburn], insomnia and depression. I would ask one of your doctors for an Rx for Nexium, 1 a day, takes care of heartburn. I think I counted 4 different doctors that you are seeing at one time. And I am willing to bet that none of them have ANY communication between them about you. It does not surprise me one bit that you feel like you are going crazy. I do not think you are taking too many medications, I think you have too many doctors. I think I would feel the same way that you do if I was trying to see that many different doctors. And as far as that hypothyroidism, that is some serious stuff. I have known people that have had that and take Synthroid fo it. My answer to your original question is NO I do not think all this are side=effects of Adderall and NO i do not think you are neurotic either. I think you need to trade all of those specialists in for ONE single doctor, maybe two including one for counseling. I think your problems are a result of too many different doctors, not communicating. Good Luck

I agree, but I don't have 1 doctor that will treat me. It is hard to find a doctor here. If I shop around I feel like I will be judged for looking for a doctor who will only do what I want. I am not like that. I do want a doctor who will listen to my symptoms, not just my lab work. It's not like I don't know anything. I am a nurse and I am in tune with my body. I know it will all work out eventually. BTW, I can't take Nexium. I can only take Pepcid AC and only at 10 mg BID. I would rather be off ALL of my medication. Thanks for the input. I will listen to any advice.

hey complete,

You're in a tough situation. I feel for you. Because you're a nurse (and even if you weren't) I'll ask you a question: if you had to trust YOUR GUT, what adjustment to what med would you make?

You've told us what each of these doctors thinks. But you're the patient. If you had your druthers, what would YOU change? I'm thinking you may be in one of those situations where the patient has to play a bigger role or else the treatment will break down.

And I will disagree with you politely and say I see nothing wrong with finding a doctor who'll do what you want provided 1) you understand that you may need to make adjustments and you understand the various risks: 2) the new doctor isn't a complete idiot and understands the risks and the outcome you are hoping for.

Good luck.

CompleteChaos, I totally understand the finding of a good doctor especially living in the Boondocks like I do. I have to go out of my county to see a good doctor. It is really difficult for me to find a good doctor that will listen and let me at least help with what WE decide, what does or does not need to go in MY body. It is very difficult for me, because I need 3 different Schedule II presciptions because of having 10 operations for giant cell bone cancer on my arm years ago and on top of that my newly diagnosed ADD. In general nowadays it is very hard to find a doctor who is willing to trust someone with one Schedule II drug, let alone three different ones. I consider myself very fortunate to have found my present doctor, who also is a professor at a university teaching medicine. I do not understand you saying you don't want to "feel judged" by searching for a doctor that will help you with what you need. Who is doing the judging? And who cares what people thind anyway when it comes to YOUR quality of life? Let me use the analogy of a car, just for an example. Let's say your car is running rough and getting worse gas mileage than it should and you have difficulty starting it. You take it to a mechanic and he says "I won't tune-up your car all I will do is put a new or a rebuilt engine in it." Saying your car is only a couple of years old and you think a tune-up will be just fine. Are you going to pay that first mechanic $3,000.00 to $5,000.00 to put a different engine in your car? Or are you going to go shopping around for a mechanic that will give your car a simple tune-up without feeling "judged?" When you know a $75.00 tune-up will make your car run like a top? I don't let doctors intimidate me anymore than I would a mechanic. I do not see anything at all wrong in anyway at least trying to find a doctor that will do what needs to be done. That's just the way I am. Maurice

Thanks for the input everyone. I know I am the hardest on myself. I suppose a little bit of that is because I see so many drug seekers in my job. I am shocked at the amount of people who "play the system" No wonder our price for health care and meds are so expensive.

As a child growing up I was such an attention seeker. I am not like that today but it is hard to stop judging myself for some of the things that I used to do. I am much better than I used to be. :)
