Hi all,

Though I've just joined, I'd hope someone can help me with my situation by sharing their informations which might help.

I'm a 31 years old male and have been taking ritalin/concerta (36mg) for about 2-3 years.

Recently I've just found a dream job. But this job requires me to take a blood test. The test results shows that I have a marked degree of eosinophilis. 36.22% or 2.34 which is very high.

Through the internet. I have narrowed down the cause of this and it would either be parasites or I'm actually allergic to my meds. I didn't told my company's doctor that I'm taking concerta for it would have cost my job. Thus she gave me pills for possible parasites infections.

I took the pills and stop my dose of concerta for a month before my second test. However, I've just received my company's doctor call saying that I failed again. This time with a slight decrese reading than before (exact figure I'm not sure).

I'd like to know if anybody has experience with this.

Thank you for reading.

I don't quite understand this. Why would taking prescribed medications cost you your job?

High eosinophils can indicate other things, IIRC.

I have the habit not to tell people of my medical conditions. The nature of my job isn't exactly dangerous, but employers will prob fear the worst and not give me the position.

I had prayed hard for this to be true.

I've sweeped through the net for informations but found nothing concrete. So I'm try to find someone who has similar experience.

Man, I guess workplace rules and medications are different in Singapore. Here in the the States you would be fine as long as the medication is prescribed.

As for the eosinophils, they usually indicate an immune response to parasitic infections and/or various inflammatory conditions such as asthma. Best to consult with your doctor about finding out what is triggering the immune response.

Well, it's more of a personal thing. I just prefer to remain quite about it. :)

My second test readings came back, and it's still at a high of 33%!

Futher research in the net tells me drug allergy don't cause eosinophils to go beyond 10%. And since stopping the dosage for a month doesn't cause much difference in the result, I guess I can continue my medications.

Now my problem has just become another big question mark.
