Just got a letter from Shire in the mail informing me that they will no longer offer prescription assistance for XR , they also stated that they are closing the program , and that applicants will have the opportunity to enroll in the Vyvanse patient assistance program instead .

The letter said that the exp. date on the patient assistance card is the last time I can get the XR at reduced price . Kinda sux , I'm not really excited about Vyvanse .

I agree that does suck like they are trying to get you to switch to the newer drug Vyvanse.

I take Adderall IR but I am not on any programs - I am simply thankful it comes in generic now.

Dang it. I swear that even 2.5 mg. of that IR can be too much for me sometimes. Something about the IR doesn't agree with me. It gives me sores in the corners of my mouth, too, every time. :(

Wow that sucks. I was actually considering joining that program. On the flip side, GSK's Bridges to Access program allows for free or reduced pricing for Dexedrine Spansules.

Yes, I realize that they are not the same thing, but this may be an option for some. :)

Eh - it's not too bad. XR will become a generic in a few years (if not sooner) and then you'll probably be able to get it as part of those $4 prescription programs like at Wal-Mart.

Vyvanse isn't bad - I tried it; the main difference is that it lasts a lot longer than XR. It's basically just Dexedrine on extended release - so, not a huge changeover like going from Ritalin to Adderall.
