My doctor prescribed me 40mg Strattera. This is my starting dose, and he said after 3 days to start taking TWO 40mg capsules daily. I've only been taking one a day so far, and I've had some noticeable side effects including: pain when urinating and decreased urination, decrease in sleep, impotence, ejaculation problems (nothing comes out, can't climax), practically zero appetite, nausea, etc. Is there a good chance these side effects will go away over time? And should I stop taking Strattera or keep with it as long as I can stand it?

from what i've been reading, a lot of people who would know have suggested that 40mg is probably too high a dose for many people to start on. the problem is that the sample packs given to doctor's are rarely the 18mg or 25mg samples. they are often only given the 40mg packs. and doctors often tell patients to titrate up too quickly.

my doctor gave me 3 of the 25mg sample packs (7 pills each) and told me to take 25mg per day for a week, 50/day the next week and then fill the script he wrote me for 80mg per day (2x40) the week after that. right now i am at the end of week 3. i have had just a few mild side effects. very dry mouth, some slight constipation. i think i notice a little of the other stuff you mentioned but it's been hardly noticeable.

you may have just started a little too high. i am doing the 80/day right now but i decided to do 40 in the morning and 40 later in the day because i felt like the 80 all at once might have been too much. my main issue right now is that i feel very jittery with some lightheadedness like when you're blood sugar gets too low. but i think i am drinking far too much caffiene with this stuff and shouldn't.

everything i have read suggests the side effects do go away, though, after a few days. some might linger for a while but they tend to get milder and milder. you may want to call your doctor and tell him about this and ask if it would be ok to start slower. of course, for other people the side effects are too much and don't lessen enough to justify continuing the meds.

get in touch with your doc if you can and maybe go slower and give it some time. it's supposed to take a while for most people. i don't yet know if it's working for me or not.

I have been on the medication for about 3 months now and don't notice any side effects at all.
