My Doc gave me 10mg XR adderall to help me focus on my schoolwork and today was my first time taking it. I took 1 pill like he told me to do, but I do not feel anything. It's been about an hour and a half since I took it, and I feel normal.

Should I take two pills tomorrow and see if it helps?

First of all, you should be asking this to your doctor. What did your doctor tell you to do?

But I'll give you advice anyway ... NO, I would stay with 10 for a while longer. When is your follow-up with the doctor? ... Schedule a follow-up ... But my doctor put me on 10 xr a day for 7 days and then TOLD ME to go up to 20 mg. What did your doctor tell you?

Like TwoTone said you should ask your doctor. I did exactly like you are thiking about. So of course I ran out early. And I got a lecture about it being a ScheduleII drug that I should follow the doctors orders. So there you go. If I were you I would CALL my doctors office and ask permission if I had it to do over again that is what I would do.

Never up your dose without your doctor's knowledge and agreement.

My doctor told me that 10 mg XR should take about 4-5 days to really have a noticable effect. It's also a "smoother" effect than the regular type, so you don't notice a rush.

If you take more without your doctor knowing, you could run the risk of getting ill, and at the very least will run out early like Maurice said. Call your doc and ask. You might be surprised, they may say "go ahead" right away. Taking the extra med and having an adverse reaction could also be a surprise, but a much less pleasant one. :(
