I was diagnosed with ADHD a couple of months ago. First the doctor tried me on Adderall XR. I took it for 2 weeks and did not like the side effects what so ever. I tried Focalin and felt like I couldn't participate in a conversation. Now I am on Vyvanse and I LOVE IT. I get so much accomplished at work. I don't have many side effects and I feel like a normal person.
The only thing that I am wondering about is by Friday evening, I feel like I could sleep for 2 days. I do not take the medication on the weekends and I am so tired. Is that normal, will that go away after a while? The other thing is that I get so much accomplished at work that by the time I get home I am give out. It is probably a little of being tired from work but also the meds wearing off. Does anyone have any suggestions?
It just sucks because I was hoping that this medication would potentially help me get my house organized as well.
I have the EXACT same symptoms. Just emailed my pdoc today to see what can be done. I switched to Vyvanse (70 mgs) from Adderall IR, which I took in 10 mg doses 3 times a day. I like the Vyvanse much, much better while it's working, but I miss the mid-day and afternoon boosters that I took while I was on the Adderall. With the Vyvanse, I'm physically and mentally exhausted by 3:00 in the afternoon, and if I try to skip it on the weekend, I end up sleeping through most of it. I'll let you know what the Doc and I come up with.

I am taking 70 mg as well. It is a wonder drug compared to Adderall and Focalin. I just wish that I had some sort of booster in the afternoon. Of course I don't want to take anything to keep me up at night.

I'd be interested in hearing about this as well. I had similar symptoms when I took Vyvanse.
Same thing with me (I take 70mg). My doc prescribed me (2) Adderall IR 5mg tablets to take later in the day which has helped big time. I've found that by taking a 5mg tablet early enough (no more than 7-8 hours after taking the vyvanse) that I end up 'catching' the residual amphetamine in my body so it works well. If I wait too long the 5mg tablet doesn't do much at all (presumably since the Vyvanse levels are mostly out of the body and/or too low by that point).

I'm not positive if the side effects of not taking it on the weekends will disappear. I take the Vyvanse everyday and have for a total of 7 months; I had a small 2 month break where I tried Adderall IR and XR.
Anyway - to my point... when there is something I need to do when I get off work, like house things that can't be accomplished on the weekends, I drink a little bit of caffine or something with a little gingeng in it, but not much. Having cut most caffine from my diet it gives me that boost I need to get me through the night...from when I get home until bedtime.
Then I crash and sleep like a baby.
