I'm taking Strattera with Lamictal, and I never had many side effects with Lamictal at all (almost none). Since I've been taking the Strattera, my ADD has improved SO much and I love that . . .
On the other hand, the side effects are almost incapacitating for several hours a day after I take it. I get super-nauseated, like morning sickness, tired, mild headache, and hot flushing/sweating. This is driving me crazy.
Has anyone tried taking Strattera at night, so the side effects hit while sleeping? I'm about ready to try anything because I don't want to give up on it, it's the best ever.

Oh lord that sounds like the side effects I would have after I took my Depakote ER in the morning time. I asked the pdoc if I could take it at night and he said sure.
My understanding is that Strattera is not a stimulant, so I don't see where it would hurt you to take it at night.
Only things I can think about taking Strattera at night would be if it bothers your sleep, either being woken up from the side effects or being wide awake after a few hours when the side effects go away.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I would just call my pdoc and see what they say.
How long have you been on this medicine btw?

I'm on Lamictal and Strattera also. I've always been on Lamictal however I had to double the dose to accomodate for the anxiety and moodiness Strattera brought on (reminded me of life before Lamictal, minus the depression).
Whatever you do DO NOT take Strattera at night; you will have trouble sleeping and the nightmares will be intolerable. I cannot stress this enough.
*note* not everyone is the same. Many have taken it at night with no problem. While others say they have trouble. The only way to really know.. is if you try. But it's your choice.
I recommend calling your doctor or pharmacist.. and asking for their advice.

How much are you taking? Are you titrating up slowly?
I took 100mg of Straterra at night for several years. It did affect my sleeping. I could not sleep through the night and woke up early, regardless of when I went to sleep. No issues with nightmares for me. I recently switched to taking it in the morning. I now sleep through the night better than I can rememeber. The only problem I am having is remembering to take it. This morning I was on my way to work and had to turn around when I was about 2 miles from home because I realized I had forgotten it, again.

Amen. A morning dose should help you sleep better than normal, due to a slight come-down effect at nightfall once it's worn off. A night dose is really not a great idea; anxiety is also an issue here. Strattera is proven to exacerbate anxiety.

Try wellbutrin. It works very similarly (I can feel it doing the same thing as strattera) and has far fewer side effects. After taking Strattera last week, I have to think it should possibly be pulled from the market.
