Ok I was prescribed adderall and after awhile of taking it i've become really depressed, and I know am not emotionally depressed because i have no Stressors in my life. Has anyone gone through this. If so, what worked? I was reading this article and to me it explains anti depressants usually dont help with these types of depression.

http://www.emedicine.com/Med/topic3114.htm

check out the 9th paragraph- thats where its talks about how anti depressants don't help with amphetamine induced depression. Did I read the article wrong?

IM taking welbutrin. does this article prove that the drug isn't going to work?

I think the important point is that this is discussing ABUSE rather than prescription-dose USE. If you aren't experiencing "intoxication" I don't think it would apply. But, as always, ask your doctor.

"Mood disorders similar to hypomania and mania can be elicited during intoxication with amphetamines. Depression can occur during withdrawal, and repeated use of amphetamines can produce antidepressant-resistant amphetamine-induced depression. Of interest, low-dose amphetamines can be used as an adjunct in the treatment of depression, especially in patients with medical compromise, lethargy, hypersomnia, low energy, or decreased attention."
