I was diagnosed with ADHD about 3 years ago and after a 2 -3 month titration period I settled on 20 mg of XR right when I wake up and 10 mg of XR at 11:00 am.

After about 3 months on this combo, my doctor had to write a letter explaining that 30 mg is too much for me all at once (which it is), that the 20 wears off by 2:00 pm (which it does) and that I have a bad reaction to the instant release (panic attack every time I take it!) The two doses really help me "come down" too, no grumpy evenings. And I've had great control of my ADHD symptoms. This satisfied my insurance for a couple of years, but now their having a hissy fit again about me taking 2 doses of XR.

My docotor can write another letter, but my insurance company said that he'll have to write a letter every year or so for as long as I take this combo.

I'm thinking about trying a different combo of meds that my insurance company won't freak out about.

Anyone having good results on a medication like Adderall XR that lasts all day? Anyone taking Adderall XR with another med that helps extend the effectiveness and ease the come down? Or is there anything I can do to get my insurance company to leave me alone and cover my dosage?

Also , why isn't generic Adderall covered under most insurance companies ? It's B.S.
