Last night my husband and I were talking and he told me that while he was in the field he snapped.. here is what happened.. on the 7th they were doing a field problem and the other team attacked my husband's team.. All he can remember is that he saw the black uniforms off Iraqi soldiers.. He also has been really depressed and angry at times.. and has nightmares.. could this actually be PTSD?

I'm not a professional, so my response will be a layman's one. That being said, it sure sounds like it!

Here's a description of PTSD Symptoms I found:

In general, posttraumatic stress disorder can be seen as an overwhelming of the body's normal psychological defenses against stress. Thus, after the trauma, there is abnormal function (dysfunction) of the normal defense systems, which results in certain symptoms. The symptoms are produced in three different ways:

*Re-experiencing the trauma
*Persistent avoidance
*Increased arousal

First, symptoms can be produced by re-experiencing the trauma, whereby the individual can have distressing recollections of the trauma. For example, the person may relive the experience as terrible dreams or nightmares or as daytime flashbacks of the event. Furthermore, external cues in the environment may remind the patient of the event. As a result, the psychological distress of the exposure to trauma is reactivated (brought back) by internal thoughts, memories, and even fantasies. Persons also can experience physical reactions to stress, such as sweating and rapid heart rate. (These reactions are similar to the "fight or flight" responses to emergencies described by Dr. Walter Cannon.) The patient's posttraumatic symptoms can be identical to those symptoms experienced when the actual trauma was occurring.

Hope this helps.

Shell shock, Compat Fatigue ,PTSD ... he should have a coulsing session for what has happen .

MY husband has PTSD he was in the military . I can't fully go into details of what it is from because that is his place to say what he has gone through. Anyway watch out when your husband gets home. My husband used to sleep walk and sit in our field ( we have 5 acres) he would grab one of his guns and sit there as if he was back on watch . About 2 yrs ago I woke my husband up from a dream . His thought it was 1994 again and he was on watch again. I had to talk to him and let him know not to hit me at all ( even though he could not see me his eyes were wide open but all he could see was the tree he thought he was leaning against and the field he was in) Our pets were walking all over him and he could not feel them as they touched him. I then realized what was going on and he was freaking out alittle thinking that his mide was playing tricks on him cus he didnt see anyone around him . I told him to trust me and everything was going to be ok then I told him to close his eyes and go to sleep. About 20mints later I went and woke him up and explained to him what had happened.

If you going to research things put the key word vet in .. you get alot less junk .

OK Let him know this could become a serious problem .. and what if he doesnt get any sleep and he is in the field and falls asleep or isnt full awake enough to be aware of everything because his nightmares. If he doesnt get help this could manafiest ( cant spell it but sound it out and you will understand) ...

If he won't see one then you should get ahold of the onbudsmen .. thats normally the commanders wife ... Let her know what is going on .. DOnt go into detail cus its none of her business lol ... Tell her you want her to get ahold of her husband and let him know to make your husband see the chaplin about the problem.
