To answer your qustion right off the bat 70mg of Vyvanse = 30mg of Dex

I am in a simalar situation as you for i have been on 70mg of vyvanse a day for about 7 months now and i find it leaving me spent and salty around 5-6 hours after i take it. Vyvanse has allso been leaving me feeling lightheaded and dizzy in an unpleasent way. So i recently got a script from my pdoc for 10mg Dextrostats, instant release dex tabs, to try out and use to help "boost" my Vyvanse. I have got to say that i much prefer the Dex to the vyvance now, im allmost thinking about just getting rid of my vyvanse and just sticking wiht the dex. There are some down sides however, first being that you have to re-dose threwout the day, but in my case that is what i want. Second is that i tried the Dex time release spansuals before and they didnt affect me at all, so i would say go for the Instant releases.:) Currently i am taking 30mg. of Dex 2 times a day and 3 if really nessisary, and i have to say it is working wonders!:D

70 mg vyvanse may equal 30 mg dex......

but, you have to take into consideration that vyvanse is extended release, and dex is not. so dex just releases everything right when it hits you, and vyvanse releases small amounts over like 7 hours.

so, you may be right, maybe not.....

Yes im aware of the time relase aspect of vyvance, and yes i did start out taking smaller doses to try and emulate the vyvance but i found that taking too small a dose of dex dosent work for me. But in actuallity, our bodys all process the vyvanse differently and knowing exatly how to emulate a vyvance with 30mg of dex is going to take some trial and error becase there is no way to figure it out with an equation or conversion. i would suggest trying a 10 to 15mg dose first to see how you react to it and adjust as needed threwout the day, But in my experiance 30mg of Dextrostats brings me to the level i am at when the vyvance is workign for me, regardless of how much is relased in my body. When it comes down to it the different kinds of Amphetamins out there for add medication all affect people differently and work differently, there is even a incrediably noticable difference between brands of the same drug and even sizes of the same drug' example being many people tell me that the 2 5mg Dexadrin IRs work better than 1 10mg of the same brand.

Hmm I would say the first dose lasts me about 4 hours and kicks in ruffly a half hour after taking the dex, with the next doses lasting about an hour less with each one. To try and help reference these times are based on when i first trying the dex, so i was taking doses of 15mg. Heres the kicker for me tho, it allmost seemed like when i upped my dose They lasted longer, with the emphisis being on the first dose. Now That i am up to 30mg doses, I would have to day that the first dose can last anywhere between 5-6 hours and the next lasting around 4and a half on average. This means when i take the higher 30mg dose i can skip the 3rd dose, unless i have a particularaly long day.

Ha ya it is kinda funny about the 5mg Dex being stronger, I was actually tinking about trying them, since right now im on the 10mg Barr brands and the 30mg dose of it should allmost be more than i need, but for this brand it allmost seems like the closest thing to emulating the relase of the vyvance in my system.

But ya id say try that out and see where it gets you but dont be afraid to bump it up a little if nessisary, Expecially since you said that you were on a 100mg dose of Vyvance a day, I was only on a 70mg dose.

I'm not taking any dex at all.... I'm just trying to get some info so I can know exactly what I want when I go to the doctor. I'm gonna try 5 mg 3 times a day to start with. It sounds low, but I'm tryin to get off stims alltogether.

thats a good call, and even more so if you are trying to drop the ampets all together. I am probubly going to switch up my 10mg to 5mg next month to see if they really do work better. I def feel you on wanting to start low tho, Amphetamin tolorance is a beast! lol :) Good luck yo

klonopin was the **** for the 1st month I took it, now I can't even feel it at all.

But, the stims do help me not get irritated by small things like my family and ****, so Im gonna prolly stay at that low dose...

I dunno man. Before stims my face was totally clear, and I was built like a tank (muscular as hell; 200 lbs). Now my face is freakin breakin out like a mother, and I weigh 140 lbs!). This is dramatically lowering my confidence levels obviously; it would with anyone.

But, even when I was looking my best I had severe social phobia, but...... I knew I was good looking. Now I still have it (just not as severe), but I think I look ugly as hell.

I dunno what to do man.

Well, the thing is that I gained about 60 lbs from Nardil, which I'm currently not taking anymore. So in actuallity, I only lost like 20 "real" lbs.

I basically agree vyvanse has a strange release mechanism. The whole prodrug thing I think is more a marketing ploy to get parents to buy into it, when these drug companies should be trying to make the medication more efficient with delivery and smooth daily dosing it seems they are more conserned with the stigma that adhd presents to those without the disorder .
