I recently started seeing a new psychiatrist and she has put me on 36 mg of Concerta at which I take in the morning. So far I feel good in the day, but around 6 or so I tend to get hit with a huge cloud of depression. Depression is something I've struggled with my entire life. At this point I find myself in addition to seeking out help, self-medicating. I've been taking the Concerta now for a week. I also haven't had a sober evening in a week. Anger is something that I've never had any issues with, but I am feeling like a fire ball. This tends to come with the depression. I can't have a normal conversation with people at this point without feeling as though I'm going to flip out. During the day I feel GREAT. It's as soon as I am coming down. Anyone else get super depressed when coming down?

This is my first experience with this type of medicine. I was just diagnosed.

The same thing happened to me, I recently told a psychiatrist about this who specialized in ADD and she mentioned trying ritalin when it wore off. I'm trying a different medication though since I haven't been on it in awhile.

Are you going in for a week one med check?
This is my first experience with ADHD meds and I am on Concerta 18mg for the first four days. I just emailed my experiences to my pdoc but haven't heard back from him yet.

Concerta really "toned down the mind noise" but makes me really sleepy. I see that it has potential, because each day I am not as tired.

I can feel the medication wear off too. It is not depression I feel when it wears off, but kind of a sense of loss of the calm that it brings on during the day. Deep breathing helps somewhat, but it is a little disconcerting. I had no idea how much I fidget until I learned what it was to sit still.

Please talk to your doctor ASAP about this as it could be Concerta is not the med for you. Be safe and careful. Let us know how you are doing!

Hey...I can tell you that you are a xerox copy of the way I feel...I feel your pain. I have been on concerta 54mg in the morning and then by 3 I am all depressed and I am bi polar so I have been prescribed lithium for the first time. But back to your experiences...from what i have read and heard from people is to maybe take some short acting ritalin towards the end of the day....what i have been doing is breaking my old 36 mg concertas in half at 3 pm and taking them but when you do that it breaks off the time release...i am in the same boat...i will ask my doc on maybe taking a short acting or LA (long acting ritalin) towards the end of the day....try the same...
