I've been on concerta 108mg for 4 years as well as supplemental ritalin used in the morning and evening as boosters . Is this dosage safe?

Im not sure! but as you typed this i will assume that it hasnt killed you! so the short term seems safe! What does your doc think? As he/she is prescribing it. How much rit are you taking? Althou i dont have a clue as ive just started taking concerta recently myself, for a serious answer your gonna have to say exact amounts! Might also help to know your body weight! hollywood, you trust your doctor don't you? I know I trust mine with my life, especially after she has saved my life at least once. There is a medical term for this, that I can't think of right now. What it means is everyone is different and every body is different. Say 10mgs. of Morphine might put you to sleep, where I might not even notice it, or relieve any of my pain. In other words "One shoe does not fit everybody." I'm sure you are fine.

It's not an unheard of dose, no. It is on the high side, yes. What is important here is how it actually affects you. Since you've been on it for 4 years, I'd imagine that there aren't any severe side effects?

If you don't already know, about 22% of the dose is on the outer shell in an immediate release form. So if you take 108mg at once, it's not too dissimilar to taking 25mg of IR methylphenidate (plus a continuous delivery throughout the rest of the time span).

Also, methylphenidate has a relatively narrow range of effect, meaning that increasing the dose may not yield the same boost in effectiveness as compared to other medications.

I've had no ill effects for the time I've been taking the dose, I wonder why mph in larger dosages would not yield the same increase in effectiveness as other medications? Would that mean that taking another medication in higher dosages would increase the effectiveness of the medication and increase the duration of effect? Oh well, concerta has always helped me concentrate, since college graduation I've been living in the southeast and I've had so many sinus , allergy complications it's tough to tell if any other extraneous variables are causing interference.

Well, perhaps this might help understand the possibilities (though I don't understand the entire reason why MPH does not scale as well) as to the potential interactions of medications (not just ADHD medications) in general. If you put a plug in a drain and fill a sink with water, it usually does not leak (unless something causes a bad seal). If you put another plug on top of that drain, it still does not leak. Hence, no increase in effectiveness with two plugs vs. one.
