I dont know how many of you read the threads about my son, but i just want to say thanks everyone who gave me advice to follow.

He has been a lot differant since friday, we have had no biting, kicking and all the rest of it, he has been doing his homework, cleaning his room, playing nicely with his brother and sister and basically a differant child,

we are even taking him to the cinema today to see WALL: E

so thanks everyone who gave me advice, i just hope this carries on for a while longer, i know there will be bad days and there will be good days.

THANKS again everyone

That's great Sevenfold! And Wall-E is a good movie! I was searching through some of your old posts. Can you tell me what you think made a difference in your son's behaviour?

yeah, has silly as it sounds, i wasnt going to take the trouble anymore, i have been more consistant with punishments, and he has learnt to listen to me, and i even took some of his favourate things of him, i.e his games, even his favourate teddy, (i know it was nasty) but i just grew so annoyed with being hit about by him

also the dr gave him eqyasym XL, and that has also helped

in my experience with kids (not any of my own, but in my behavioral work) consistency is a HUGE key with discipline and positive reinforcement.

Way to go!! :) (doesn't sound silly at all, btw)

No, it doesn't sound silly at all. Consistent discipline of children is one of the hardest things in the world to do, IMHO. As parents we get tired, give up, overreact, get fed up with playing cop all day. People forget that effective discipline is a JOB, plain and simple, an unpaid, unending and primarily a thankless JOB.

oh - - don't be surprised if a burst of inappropriate behavior happens. Hang in there, it will pass as long as you continue to be consistent. It's just him testing to see what he can get away with.

You're doing a really good thing with this - especially for your son.

oh we had a bad day yesterday, he was hitting and biting his sister, but i took him away from the situation and he calmed down, and after a while he was able to come into the room and say sorry and give her a big kiss and hug
