Do this?

Sometimes I catch myself walking away from a person in the middle of a conversation....in the middle of them talking to my face....

I really dont mean to. I most likely didnt hear more than the first 30 seconds of what they said until I drifted off into my thoughts and in a way I just dont even notice/ comprehend what they are saying....

Notorious for doing it, that, AND interrupting people.

My son does that all the time to me. Since he also has a hearing impairment (not correctable) its hard to know when he is not hearing me or just ADDing...mostly I think it is the ADD -- but if there is background noise that worsens things.

I get mad at him alot when he does this, because when I try to talk with him and having to repeat myself over and over its really frustrating. He'll look at me as if he's listening and then wall away midsentence and start looking in a cupboard, or whatever. I don't always get mad, mostly when I'm having my own focus problems!

It seems to be worse lately for him. He has had some medication changes.... however, I recall a talk at my son's school where they said teens (not just the ADHD ones) can seem really spaced out at this age 15/16 years old, and then suddenly they seem to pop out of it. Something about the neurons reorganizing and being pruned.... anyhow, I'm hoping this moment is just the dark before the dawn!

Walking away/not paying attention to people and rudely interrupting someone are both tendencies I have done battle with all my life.
I believe I have gained some ground but it is still trench warfare.

yes all the time, probably not as much to my friends. I probably do this to my family more, they always bugging me about something and I have the shortest attention span ever. It's very hard for me to stand there, especially, and not walk away. It's a bit easier when I'm sitting, but I usually say I have to go to the bathroom or something if i can't take it anymore.

If I'm not interrupting, I'm walking away or thinking about something else.

I probably do this more often than I'd like to admit. I also often find myself saying things like "seeya later" or "goodbye" before the conversation is actually over.

The irony is, I find it infuriating when my ADHD mom does it to me! Oh well, I guess you get what you give.
