I have to go to the Police station tomorrow because It seems that I didn't pay gaz at a gaz station. I'm pretty sure that I just forgot or thought that I had paid at the pump. I hope this isn't going to get me into trouble...

Ouch... I often have paranoid feelings that I'm going to accidentally do this but so far so good... down in these parts they take away your driver's license and prosecute you for theft. They have stickers on the pumps with pictures of cops warning you (which helps me not to forget!). A friend was falsely accused of this once (he actually had paid). I hope for your sake they are more lenient/understanding in Canada. Good luck to you.

hehe ive done this before, even went into the shop part and bought some milk, but they didnt ask if i had bought petrol and i forgot,

to make things less stressfull id go pay the garage a.s.a.p and apoligise and pay, you may find they will phone the police for you and that will be that

even if they know it wasnt intentinally a theft they dont have anyway to get hold of u other than phoning the cops

I bet being completely honest, and totally apologetic will work wonders with the gas station

I mean, seriously, how many "criminals" do you know that go back and apologize and pay? lol

this is a good one for the ADD files. :p

Just tell the police what you told us, the truth. As long as you have a clean record hopefully there won't be a problem.

Yes, my plan is to go back to the station (I did that in May and learned about it this week) and pay for it. I might even pay a small amount to compensate for the trouble. I still have to meet the cops since I don't even know where I did it.

I was driving down the highway one night and noticed in the rear view mirror, a shower of sparks following behind my car. I got out and found the gas nozzle still in the tank and the hose dragging behind me, including some sort of attachment where it was ripped from the pump.

But, to my dubious credit, I had paid.

I assume that you couldn't be in too much trouble, or else they would have come to you, as opposed to having you go to them.

I did that once on a road trip - I thought my friend had gone inside to pay but she was just buying a phone card, and she thought I paid at the pump. Thankfully we realized after only about a 1/2 hour and went back to the station. They had a whole pile of reciepts for people who hadn't paid just that day - and they said I was the only person who had ever come back!

Anyways, I'm sure if you apologize, tell them it was an accident, and pay what you owe then you wont be in any trouble.

I told the police my story and they believed me right away. I filled a declaration and the chance are high that the charge will be dropped. It can take a few months before I get news about it. I went back to the gaz station and paid the bill. The girl was a bit surprise. She called the policemen to tell him that I paid. Everything should be fine. I'm wondering if things would have been different in the US. American cops can be scary sometime.

Same in Oregon. Only thing that makes me remember to pay is the guy waiting at my window looking annoyed.

I guess it does seem odd if you didn't grow up with it. I think some sort of jobs program gone awry years and years ago probably.

I find it odd to have someone pump my gas - also, recently having been to Atlantic City - I thought I did pump my gas in NJ - however, we might have been in PA - will have to ask the hubby about that...

here I don't think there is a gas station that will pump your gas for you unless you're disabled.

We are all disabled in Oregon. :)

It's actually annoying to not be able to. One guy running around with 3 islands of cars. I had a waterfall construction business so we got commercial fuel, meaning we filled up ourselves. Got used to it so now I get frustrated when the pump is right there, and the guy is running around like a headless chicken to make his $9 an hour or so.

I feel sorry for the guy with gas prices the way they are though. Must get yelled at a lot by people that are not too smart about who's in charge of gas prices.

Did I just go off on a tangent?
