That's a hard one to answer because evryone is different and we all have different reactions to the drug!

Personally i have just had to accept even though strattera was working a 150% for my adhd, it has mad my mood worse.
I now am snapping at everything and everyone in sight, my mood swings are disgusting, i'm actually in the process of coming of the drug, which is a pity because it was working great, but my family comes first and not me.

Hi,

What I wanted to know, is what a med like strattera helps for. I though they did help to control moods in ADHD

As for the moods, The next day I started I was much more sensitive to criticism.

Its so hard to figure out.

I think it's a weird and wonderful drug it has helped me with focus, attention, procastinating, i just feel i'm living for a change.

My mood however has changed for the worse, i'm more irratable then ever i snap quicker than ever, i cry alot more and that's enough for me to come off the drug.

It is hard to figure out and i say that it can start to kick in, in about a week but it takes at least 6 weeks to feel the full effect, well that's how long it's taken for me to feel the full effects anyway.

How long have you been on them?

Yeah, I would say that it does help to improve mood. I've noticed that my mood seems to be more stable. No depressed moods. You have to give Strattera some time to work though. It's been 3 weeks and about 3 days at 120mg and it's starting to work well. :o

I forgot to say that the psydoc said that strattera would help for my depression and anxiety.

I forgot to say that the psydoc said that strattera would help for my depression and anxiety.

Maybe you should look for some sort of online journal that is peer reviewed to print out an article from and bring into your doctor.

You were the one posting last night in regards to Lamictal, right?

My doctor said that strattera was a 'failed antidepressant' that helped like 50% of people with ADHD when I asked for it and refused to give it to me.

Maybe your doctor read that somewhere?? I don't know.

I know you were suffering last night when you were describing it's effects in the post and if you haven't called the doctor or blatantly refused it, which is a choice that I personally do not recommend considering it goes against medical advice and last time I checked it didn't say Site Medical Consultant under my account name.

I am trying to both follow guidelines and help you, you need to put yourself first in this situation because the FDA has issued warnings that make me as an empathetic member here a little concerned. I am a psych major in college so please do not get put off by my know-it-all-ishness here I am just a little worried that you may get worse and in like 3 years this type of thing will be my job. With my ADD and a bipolar sister that I grew up never understanding, I guess this is why I chose to help people in my career, to help me learn what I don't get and grow from it.

I am trying to help. That's all, I apologize for the intensity but I am scared for you based on what you described.

Private Message me anytime you want for support, I want to help if I can even if it is in a small way.

Hi starchild! I've just recently been diagnosed, and Strattera has been my first drug. I loved it but it was literally knocking me out so I had to stop taking it and I have an appointment tomorrow. Do you think, and this is just with your own personal past experience with different meds, that the dose could've been too small? It was an 80mg dose but I see you're also taking Ritalin in the morning. Maybe that's the answer? I've been combing these posts and have gotten a lot of useful information but something more specific would be helpful. Thanks!
