Has anyone had any experience with Strattera working well, but then developing a tolerance, i.e., not working anymore, but after a period time went back to using with any success?

Strattera worked amazingly for two plus years and since then I have not found anything that is even come close.

Has anyone had any new/recent experience Erdonax (Reboxetine), or have seen any recent relevant clinical data related to its use for adults ADHD?

Based upon my success with Strattera and my limited success with stimulants, it seems like norepherine is the key.

Similarly, has anyone had Strattera fizzle out and gone to another norepherine reuptake inhibitor other than Endonax? Such as desipramine or nortriptyline. Recognizing the bad reputation of TCA's.

Only recently, I came across someone describing taking Strattera in concert with nortriptyline.

This was of interest to me because I had been doing the same thing for a period of time, but nortriptyline was prescribed for neuropathic pain. So I don't know if I was inadvertently "stacking" which contributed to the positive results I associated only with Strattera.

Your thoughts and input are always appreciated.

Good luck!

How long did it take for Strattera to start working for you Bob? I've been on the stuff for about 2 weeks now but its not helping much at all. I like it it feels good and it gives me a bit of a buzz but it isn't really helping my concentration at all especially when its at its peak I actually have worse concentration.

I started taking it at night instead and I sleep easy and no nightmares or awakenings like other people describe but I wake up with a sore throat every morning for some weird reason.

I have been on Strattera for about 2 wks also and feel like it isn't doing anything. I was just recently diagnosed and that what my doc started me on (not sure why he didn't start with a stimulant, since from what I've read that is the first choice). I go back to see him Sept. 8, hopefully he will put me on something else. The stuff I've read about Strattera is that it's not for long term use. Did stimulants not work for you? Is that why they put you on it?

It was some time ago, but I believe it was just a couple of weeks. How many milligrams are you on per day? I started at 40 mg per day, then went up to 80 mg per day, then to 100 mg (too high), and back down to 80 mg for the next two plus years.

It's possible that you are either at too high or too low of a dose.

An interesting thing about Strattera, every time I see a new shrink invariably they are surprised when I described the positive benefits I experienced from Strattera.

Unfortunately, as most people on this blog are all too familiar with, every person is different in the way that they will respond to different medication. If the people who develop these drugs don't fully appreciate the reasons why they demonstrate any level of effectiveness, than what can we expect.

At this point, I'm hard-pressed to remember all of the different drugs and drug combinations that I have been on over the years.

Nonetheless, all you can do is keep on trying I guess.

Take care

If by "worked" you mean made me anxious, nervous, and uncomfortable then yes stimulants have worked for me in the past. And in fact, they still do as I have recently had a refresher course in stimulants with Vyvanse, which seemed okay for a day and got exponentially worse with each preceding day.

Since Strattera is the only thing that has ever worked, I continue to try to look at the norepherine side of the equation. But, as a typical American, I'm a sucker for marketing so Vyvanse got a try out.

Take care

Everyone reacts to drugs differently. Stimulants make me calm and relaxed but at the same time highly alert, motivated, quick thinking and overall more intelligent and on top of that they make me optimistic, happy and feel good physically and mentally.
