I overeat especially if it is foods that I love. I am suffering the consequences and I want to stop but don't know how! Part of it is emotional but most of it is self control. It's hard for me to just eat a little of something I really like. I pig out on mainly high carbohydrate foods. I get a temporary rush when I eat but I then crash and feel awful physically and mentally.
I am seriously overweight and have diabetes but I still overeat, sometimes to the extent of being sick. I do most of my eating at night and I usually don't eat much when I am around other people.
I am looking for a way out and have been battling this for many, many years and tired of food controlling me. Can anybody offer some type of help? Thanks

My mother and cousin fought with these issues for decades. My mother got professional help and is still alive, and slowly doing better. My cousin died in her sleep at the age of 36 from diabetes, over eating, sever depression and all in all lack of help and support to control the issue.
You mention carbs...carb addiction is real. I truly suggest you start a search on low carb eating plans. I too have to watch the carbs and my son is a major carb junky to the point it will control his emotions. High protien, high whole grain / solid B vitamin diet can really ease these cravings a lot while helping you drop the pounds.
You need to get professional help. Obviously this is not something that can be handled without support. I would start with seeing your doctor or find a local over eating support group where you can find support in your area. You are not alone, there are thousands upon thousands of people who are going thru the same thing.

I agree 300% with Giddymoon about low carb. Hi, I'm justcallmedorie and I'm a compulsive overeater. Low carb helped me sooooo much with that. I lost some weight too, a nice side-effect. ;)
I'm not sure if it's ok to link to another site, so google "lowcarber" and "lowcarbfriends" (without the "") and you'll find lots of good help and advice!
PM me it you'd like. I totally feel your pain!!!
Good luck!

only you can stop it and if you have enough control and willpower you can over come it
Control and willpower have nothing to do with it. Compulsive overeating is just as harmful and out of control as addiction to any other substance.
After years of struggling with addictions of many sorts, I know beyond a doubt it has nothing to do with willpower.
Gastric bypass is a huge help, Jett. Impossible to overeat when your stomach is the size of a walnut.
