I'm on my second day of Concerta 36mg. I had high hopes for it working for me, but I don't feel anything at all. I am still very distractable and changing tasks without finishing anything.
This is my first experience with any type of ADD medication. I am female, 32 years old, inattentive type with no hyperactivity.
Has anyone had this problem of Concerta not working? I don't even feel any side effects. It's like I'm on nothing at all. Should I keep taking it for a while to see if anything changes?
By day 2 you should know whether it works or not. You can ask your doctor about trying to double your dose for a day or two, like take two 36 mg pills in the morning. If that starts to work, that's a start. The next step is to try a new med.
im being titrated on ritalin, 10mg to 60mg had insuficient effect, im now on 50mg increasing to 120mg over 16 days, single dose instant release. id hate to think if it started working at 120mg how much that would relate to with concerta to acheive a effective releif throughout the day. this seems far higher than most doctors would seem to be willing to go.

on your 2nd day you really won't notice much of a difference. I would give it a month and if it still isn't working talk to your doc. I've been on Concerta for a little over two months. I was on 36mg for about 2 weeks and 72 for about 8. I still see no help with Concerta though, I am asking my doctor to switch my meds at my next appt. But don't get discouraged, I know many people who Concerta has worked for, everyone reacts differently.

I am new 2 this site, so I am gaining lots of new information and seeing what others have been experiencing.
I am 36, female and have just been taken off of Concerta. I have ADHD. I also found absolutely no effect from this drug through the 2 months I was on it. And that's with dosage increases during that time. Even when my doc told me to stop taking it and started me on Dexedrine, I find it interesting that we have the option to just do that. Maybe I have been misinformed, but i know people wo are on anti-depressants and they were given strict orders to decrease their dose, so that they don't have the bad effects of coming off of it.
We are lucky that with ADD/ADHD drugs we are just able to switch when they aren't working. Like I said, maybe I'm misinformed, but the transition was very smooth for me. I feel some pretty good affects from the Dex, so third day in....I'm definitely hopeful. 3 years ago, I tried Ritalin, with no response, so I do agree that these meds are very people specific and dose specific.
I hope you find out what works for you, but I tend to believe, unlike anti-depressants, ADD meds don't seem to take as long to show there value in your system. The others (anti-Depressants) take anywhere from 4-6 weeks to be introduced to your system and beneficial and I'd imagine that's why the importance of coming off slowly.
If you're as impatient as I have been in the past, don't wait to long to expect something to work. I think a week in, should show you how they are affecting you. One or 2 days is way to soon for accuracy, but within that week, you should be feeling better.
Good Luck! (This is just based on my experiences)

I wanted to add to my last message that once you find a little bit of response from that drug, you need to monitor how effective it is and for how long. Because like Absane was saying, upping your dose can be a big help too. Once my doc did this several times, I knew that with absolutely no results it was time to try something else.
Not sure why my picture showed up twice on last post, but I'm still figuring the system out. Sorry you had to look at me twice...LOL!!!
