View Full Version : Do you take XR or Instant Release? RoboticPaper 09-18-08, 02:27 PM also feel free to mention how long you've been taking it for demoez 09-18-08, 03:10 PM I'm very interested in this Poll also because I just start XR and i'm wondering if I should take IR for more control and a better feel all throughout the day... Captain Sanity 09-18-08, 03:48 PM The xr is pretty smooth for me, but the IR is 1/10th the cost. IR is $10 so she started me on that instead. 10mg 2x per day. I started yesterday. So far so good. Ennio'sMom 09-19-08, 06:32 PM I started on IR, then moved to XR (for the help with long days). I'm now experimenting with moving back to IR. I found the XR to make me more anxious and a little depressed. IR seems to be a much happier med. hollywood 09-20-08, 11:22 AM should I be on ir , I can't believe that still so many people out there are still taking ir tabs. Then again when I was taking ir tablets life was much easier. Smooth release, in and out of system. Isolated control is key Tylerlee17 09-20-08, 06:04 PM Never done IR by itself. Always been XR + IR or XR x2 type dosing. I prefer so far XRx2 but the cost is so high im debating what to do next until the generic comes out. meadd823 09-21-08, 06:37 AM Adderall IR always been on IR and I started on it in 1997. RoboticPaper 09-22-08, 06:03 PM Adderall IR always been on IR and I started on it in 1997. Ever tried XR? What happened when you tried it? livewire 09-22-08, 10:19 PM I started on XR 60 mg. Nov. 2005. Was on Shire's patient assistance program. Was notified in April 2008 that Shire was disconcontinuing the program and was instructed to enroll in Vyvanse program. After paying for the Vyvanse 50 mg. for two months I was denied enrollment in the patient assistance program, Vyvanse was $150 for 30 pills. Started today on Adderall IR. I prefer Vyvanse over anything I have tried, and I have tried it all believe me, my doc was getting ready to bump me up to 70mg. a day when Shire pulled the plug. I take 20 mg. IR 3xday. 49 y/o female, full time nursing student. Diagnosed with ADD when I was 45. Peace Out. Tylerlee17 09-22-08, 10:33 PM You don't feel that 50mg or 70mg of Vyvanse doesn't work for you? Just goes to show you how strange ADHD medications are, the calculations are semi-known to pharmacist but people find a certain dose of one thing suits them better than 2 or 3 times the equivilant of a previously dosed different medication. Mommicked 09-23-08, 03:08 PM I've taken Focalin XR, Concerta, Vyvanse and now trying Adderall IR. Out of all of them, I think I am going to like the Adderall IR the best. Easy to adjust dosage in and out of your system quickly so if you forget to take it at your regular time, you can still take it later and know that it's not going to keep you awake all night. Right now I'm taking 10mg X 3 a day (about 4-5 hours apart), sometimes I don't even take the 3rd dose depending on what I have to do in the evening. So far so good, great price, easy to take and seems as effective if not more so than the Vyvanse. I started developing some anxiety on the Concerta and Focalin. Just started it this past week, we'll see how it goes!
