Hi everyone.
This is my first day on adderall. I took my second dose at 4:19 and I hope I don't have any trouble sleeping tonight. I'm not sure of a good cutoff time for the second dose. I guess if I took it too late, I'll learn tonight and know better next time. LOL.
I don't feel a crash right now so I hope it isn't too bad.
I am a college student and I hope adderall works for me. Right now, I'm 3 weeks behind in my classes because without being medicated, I was drowning in procrastination and distraction. Now I have to read 3/4 chapters of everything and I hope I can do it.
It's much too early in the semester to get discouraged, right? Surely, I still have time to read the chapters and catch up on my work. (Especially now that I can FOCUS!).
I just wanted to say hi to everyone and let you know how I'm doing. I'm new here so I am trying to get to know everyone. :) Glad I'm here!

My muscles feel sore. I guess my last dose has worn off. I don't know if I'm going to stay on it. I feel extremely exhausted right now.

That's normal it takes getting used to. The comedown on Adderall is actually considerably easier than other stimulants (particularly ritalin.) One small note from my experiences with adderall - it won't motivate you to get started on things... That part still takes self control and organization, but the adderall is a tool to help you stay on task once you start. If you have a hard time getting homework done because you always play video games, adderall will just make you super focused on games and your homework will go untouched (trust me!)
Just take an adderall and get away from whatever it is that distracts you and bring your books with you. I find that once I sit down with my books I can sit and read for hours, but if I try to do homework at my computer desk I'm worse off than I was without adderall.

I will start studying in the library. I still procrastinate to do things so going to the library will hopefully get me some motivation to get on my studying.
I appreciate your input. I'm very new to the med thing in general so I don't have much experience to go on. (except a very horrible ritalin experience). And that scared me from all meds. But I'm giving this a fair shot. Can't hurt to try, right?

It worked wonders on my concentration yesterday but wasn't able to get much sleep. I am extremely exhausted today and I don't know if the med is going to work as well today since I didn't get much sleep. So I will have to see how day 2 goes.
I was finally able to get a chapter read after putting it off for 3 weeks. I have 2 tests next week and another the week after that and I'm so far behind. :(
I feel like quitting college.

Hang in there! No one ever said college was easy. But it's worth it.
I can tell you my second day was better than my first in terms of bad side effects. I'm hoping it gets better still. i had a bad experience on concerta, which scared me off of trying again for three years. It wasn't horrible, but it the bad did outweigh the good in that case.

Thanks so much for the encouragement! I really appreciate it sooooo much! Keep me updated on your experiences and any good/bad from it. I think the first few days are like a shock to the body so the body has to get used to it. Then hopefully it'll even out some.

I hope you are right. I am in crash mode at the moment and my head is killing me. I should just go to sleep but I'm stubborn.

I always get a horrible headache too when it wears off.
I'm suffering now from insomnia. I took my last dose at 12 pm and here I am in the middle of the night unable to sleep. It should be long worn off by now but I still have a horrible headache and insomnia.

Maybe this is a ray of hope. I slept like a baby last night. I think the two days of insomnia caught up to me. No problems at all last night even with the headache.

That is hopeful! Maybe this is the turning point. :)
I got some sleep last night also after insomnia for 2 days.
Things are sounding better for the both of us. :)
if ya think about it 3 weeks is nothing.... you either have 8-11classes worth of hw to catch up with one class, if they even gave you homework at all. OR you have 3 classes worth of homework to catch up with. I'm thinking of having that class either being usually 3 times a week, rarely 4, or once a week.
Try to look at the big picture like that, as it isn't that much, and take each assignment a step at a time. Give yourself a pat on the back each time you finish something or even reward yourself. Also, think as your workload at a completely different attitude and pressure, because having much of an easier ability to concentrate is like now a super power for you. Go into your homework like you've never tried doing it before because it'll probably be much more interesting and seem like a breeze, compared to before as it were probably like solving a rubix cube!
check out the homework section here too, for teens I think?- and even the college one as well.
