Sorry if this has already been asked, I did try to look around a bit for other situations like this but I could find nothing quite like this! Unless I do not understand some of the terminology, and then I apologize profusely!

Anyway, this is my first post so please be lenient with me :D!

Recently I started talking Adderall XR 20mg (Non-Generic), for my ADHD. And while the side effects have mostly been minor (dry mouth, mild upset stomach the first two days, slight 'light-headedness' when standing too fast within the first hour or so) there has been one side effect that has truly bothered me!

I've read that many report a decrease in libido while taking Adderall, but I have no such effect, it increases my libido! While this can be moderately entertaining sometimes, it's extremely difficult for me to 'maintain' an erection!

****Too Much Information Warning****

My normal flaccid state is about 3.5 - 4 inches, depending on the day (it varies I guess, probably body temperature and such) generally speaking, and this has not really changed. My normal 'erect' length, again varies (is this normal anyway?) usually with how aroused I am or temperature, from 6 inches at shortest (rarely, but usually when it's cold or not aroused really, but still quite firm) to 7.5 inches when aroused. Once or twice I've hit the 8 mark, but that requires a very high level of arousal/stimulation!

On the Adderall my normal erect length is the same, anywhere from 6ish to 7.5 depending on how cold it is in the room. The problem is that even though I'm extremely aroused and the sensations of masturbation/assisted orgasm are intensified, my orgasm is delayed by a large margin. On Average it used to take about 30 minutes to an hour for masturbation, and 15 to 40 for an 'assisted orgasm' (depending on the manner in which I am being assisted). Now it takes anywhere from an hour MINIMUM to three hours.

At this point, my erection almost ALWAYS subsides before orgasm, and has to be re-obtained so to speak.

There also appears to be a de-coupling of my orgasm and my ejaculation. The ejaculation occurring first.

I love steps/charts, even cheesy ones so I'm going to use one here, even though I probably don't need to!

Adderall Orgasm Pattern:

Stage One: Arousal. Intense interest in sexual pleasure and orgasm.
Stage Two: Erection. Strong erection within normal range of 'self' average.
Stage Three: Stimulation. Enhanced sensation, well above normal.
Stage Four: Ejaculation. Large amount of seminal fluids released in a 'front loaded ejaculation' being released in very large volume at first with almost 'no' taper. Feels like there is more that didn't come out.
Stage Five: Orgasm. Orgasm begins powerfully and immediately subsides before 'expected' completion.

Normally there is no 'front loaded ejaculation' it tends to be a rather 'even' one, that is to say, it doesn't leave me feeling like my penis got lazy half-way through.

The same can be said for the orgasm itself, it seems almost front-loaded, wherein my body releases a surge for a .2 second range, and then literally just stops trying to do so.

**** End Too much information warning ****

I'm planning on writing a book this week "How Adderall switched me and my penis!" it's going to be about how now I can concentrate, but my penis appears to lose interest and shift focus!

Anyway, if anyone knows if there's a medical reason for this or if I'm just crazy please tell me! I've never heard of such a 'de-synching' of orgasm/ejaculation that *also* resulted in 'odd' ejaculation/orgasm behavior!

Also, sorry for the long post, I haven't taken my Adderall today!

HaHaHa. Yeah man, thanks for the TMI warning. What you are experiencing is pretty common for us guys on amphetamine. What a twisted irony in the fact that a medication improves our lives in one aspect but hoses it in another.

Amphetamine reduces blood flow to extremities, coupled with the fact it messes with neurotransmission is why you are experiencing the problems. The problems may pass or they may just become a fact of life if you stay with Adderall. Methylphenidate meds (Concerta, Ritalin, Focalin) tend not to cause as many problems in this area (but they can).

One easy way around this (but definitely not cheap) is with a PDE-5 inhibitor (aka viagra, levitra, and/or cialis). These counteract the problem and give the added benefit of allowing you to function at near super-human abilities. Just ask your doctor and he/she will probably load you up with samples and hand you a script before you finish explaining the situation (as what happened with me).

I figured some people might prefer not to read the TMI part, so I left a warning haha.

So you say that methylphenidate medications have, at least, a lower chance to cause these problems? That's interesting and I might talk to my doctor about that.

I'd been putting off using medications for my ADHD for a number of years, as I've always been extremely 'iffy' when it comes to taking medications. If it came down to the Adderall or my sexual function, I'd probably choose to find some kind of medication that either did not cause the same side effects, or was extremely unlikely to.

I'm not really interested in 'taking pills to offset the shakes to offset the pills'. It always seemed silly to take meds to fix something that my *other* meds are causing!

Thank you for your reply!
