After a few years of Adderall my bathroom trips have drastically increased....I was checked for prostate and UTI and both came back negative even tho when the doc put me on 2 weeks antibiotics regiment the symptoms decreased somewhat (now I'm going to bathroom every 3-4 hours).

I should mention that I think my immunity system is in pretty bad shape as I get cold easily and often times I spit yellow mucus few hours after taking Adderall.

I also got a sample of flowmax and that's the only med that seemed to help.......even when I went to a urologist he gave me some meds that did't do anything and turned me away.........I've started taking probiotics, cranberry extract and vitamins but to no avail. HELP:(

Dude dont worry about it. When Im at school I always have a water bottle on me, you know for cottonmouth from the adderall and usually (not ALWAYS) whatever amount of water i drink goes right through me and after like 2 min. I feel like i have to go to the bathroom. this has also increased my bathroom use. is this whats happening to you? This hasnt happened for the first couple months ive been on adderall but it has been happening since school started for me about a month ago. Im taking 30MG adderall XR.

Did your doctor consider this as frequent urination? I found some information here (http://www.continence-foundation.org.uk/symptoms-and-treatments/healthy-bladder.php).

I just started Adderall and wonder is this because you are drinking much more from the dry mouth side effect?

When on Adderall, I too suffer from various urinary problems. Many the same as what you've mentioned. ( I won't talk about the additional rampant constipation I get also!) These two may perhaps be the WORST side effect of adderall many suffer. The best remedy for me so far (for the urinary issue) has been cranberry-capsules or cranberry juice. It really makes a difference for me, but if I miss a few days, I revert right back to the same symptoms. Due to it's acidity, I have to take it late at night to avoid negating the adderall. If you try the capules, buy the ones that have a high cranberry content (at least 1000mg worth per dose). I made a mistake and tried a different bottle once and found it to not be as effective only to learn it had a much lower cranberry content than what I was using before (Duh..). When I take a break from adderall my urine (and other) function seem to go back to normal.

Thanks for all the replays, as far as questions I don't feel incontinence and I can hold it but the issue is that pretty much as soon as I urinate I start to feel to go again.....it's not normal.....nobody in my family has it and it's extremely uncomfortable.........well I guess im stuck with flowmax for now..:(

Non cancerous enlarged prostate is a common condition that needs to be monitored. Talk to your doctor.

How was prostate checked? PSA..ask for it....blood work
Sugar, and insulin levels? Ask for it! Diabetes...type II...? get checked...
How about kidney stones? have you had a CT? Do you have both kidneys? Do you even know? Small urethra? Give me a little history..I may shed light on you....!

Please give me example of diet...honestly...candy..fast food..sodium..fruit..veggies..what do you drink?

Sports drinks? Does cranberry juice have sugar? Soda...Redbull? caffiene...

Why immuno comprimised? I need more than this...yellow mucous!

You can PM me....if you prefer.

I will make an assumption, as I cannot make diagnosis, but will do my best to offer a solution..or tell you what to ask your Doctor.

Hey, this may be related, it may not be. It's not even conclusive to me cause I haven't been bothering with it lately but...

I take adderall, have been for a while. Here's my list of three symptoms related to the topic. I gave them headings so you can skip reading my meticulous drivel.

Bathroom trips in the absence of water
Last year I noticed a sudden increase in bathroom trips (mostly at night though). It started at about the same time I started taking vitamins for the first time. When I stopped taking vitamins and adderall over the summer, I no longer had to wake up mega early to use the bathroom. The situation struck me as pretty odd because I would use the bathroom before I went to bed, and I wouldn't have had any water for 2 hours before that, and still I would have to wake up early and pee, and sometimes in the middle of the night as well. I haven't proven to my self that the vitamins are related, but the problem has started up again this year and coinsidentally I started taking those vitamins too. I had the problem once this year before starting the vitamins again. Here's a journal excript:
"[I had lots of mashed potatoes that night for the first time in a while]... Also, I had to pee last night after I went to bed, like, 4 different times. It was ridiculous. I had wine last night too, that could be a factor."
-I did a quick google search and found 1 study that claimed a correlation between men who take vitamins and men who have prostate problems. It did not go into any depth, it was just one of those "pop studies" intended for small talk.
-Also, keep in mind that adderall is a dieretic which means it makes our bodies shed water - still, you'd think that you'd run out of urine after you pee and stop drinking so it seems odd to me.

Constant, subtle nagging
On a seperate but similar thought, I notice sometimes (especially when I try to sleep), I feel like I almost have to pee (I will rub my feet together and toss and turn with some anxiety), but when I get up to use the bathroom, I don't have to pee at all. I try massaging the area and that really only has the same effect as rubbing my feet together in anxiety... (atleast my feet don't get sore though).
-I read that prostate massages are good for enlarged prostates which gave me the idea.

Burns after I pee but not during + strong urge to pee
Another case of this sort of urinary problem is when I use the bathroom, on some times but very very rarely, after I finish peeing it will burn slightly not during. Last time this happened was a year ago or so. I remember that I felt like I still had to pee even though I had finished peeing what seemed to be the average amount. Burning sensation is when peeing is related to urinary tract infection which can be cured by cranberry juice, or in worse case doctors have to do something, but i'm not sure it was that exactly because it didn't burn while I was peeing, only after. It felt bad for a while afterwords, not necisarily a burning, but definatly the feeling that I had to pee and it was very strong.
-I'm not really sure what to do about this. I'm not convinced it's UTI but i'm no doctor.

Anyway, it seemed a lot of people wanted more description and I'm one of those people though I have but weak solutions and need help myself. Let me know if you can relate to any of the bold points in this post and maybe people will know of something that will help.

Thx for posting about flowmax too btw, I was concidering trying it to help with the nagging urge to pee but haven't gotten around to talking to a doc about it yet (ughh, I have a girl doctor now too... maybe the psychologist will know).

You never run out of fluid, unless you are serioulsy dehydrated and on the brink of kidney failure, or you are in Congestive Heart Failulre(CHF). Your kidneys work as filters...so this is why you continuously spill urine.

Yes, Adderall is a diuretic...this is why you need to consume protien and water, so you are not SPILLING PROTIEN in your urine, which will leave you with a nagging urge, and strips electrolytes from your sytem, which then increases urine output...example:ATKINS DIET!

Again.....the protate can leave you with serious nagging problems. It is uncomfortable, and often not spoken of. Please go to someone you are comfortable with and have this explored, as a primary doc, may check for obvious issues, and a Urologist, should explore each symtom, and help you find relief.

Please remember......64 oz. of H2O....this is for real and helps you function better....all of you...kidneys..prostate..bladder..!

My liver's fine, prostate was a tad enlarged but not to much and blood work came back just fine (ok I lied I need to move around a bit more to be in perfect condition, my sedentary job that I stared 2 years ago can't be good for me in the long run).

I tried cranberry juice, probiotics, uthra capsules (spelling is wrong) and many other supplements but nothing, but I had a breakthrough revelation......grapefruit juice almost immediately (well after two large cups of it) makes me feel not bloated constantly for 2-3 hours! It's rather strange that only this not oranges or lemons help......any idea what does it mean? Should I invest in grapefruit juice supplements as permanent solution?

Many thanks!

Could be anxiety. Physical manifestation is involuntary urine and feces.

I definitely agree with a lack of protein. I was to eat alot better than I do (money) and never had issues until a few weeks ago, I was tested, everything was good doc suggested more protein in my diet.

I posted a similar thread in the Concerta forums. It's called ejaculate and burning.

I had the urine urgency before the burning and then one day I ejaculated and it burned and then after that it started to burn after I pee.

Doesn't burn anymore. Have taken antibiotics. I really think it is the meds but I am not sure what it is about it.

I have been taking significantly less medicine the past couple weeks and it has helped. Still not 100% yet, but getting there.

That electrolyte tidbit is interesting...because Concerta was making me drink 10-16 cups on average a day of water and all I'd eat for 12 hours was a 2 eggs, sausage, cheese, and a bagel. And then I'd drink all that water, which probably couldn't have been good for me on top of peeing every hour with a full bladder.

I'm not sure what to do. If anyone finds out how to fix this issue let me know. Cranberry supplements sound appealing and the grapefruit is interesting as well.

Speed *Speeds* everything up.

Serious frequent urination is one reason I drifted off my meds. It's annoying to need to pee every 15-30 mins.

Are you overweight? If so, that can cause incontinence too. e.g. too much pressure on bladder.

I am 6ft 177lb personally.

It's definitely the drugs. Are there any medications that don't seem to bring out bladder effects? Does it have to do with vasopressin at all? Does it have to do with being a diuretic? Does it have to do with too much PNS stimulation?
