View Full Version : Adderall making me very hungry Tachyon 09-23-08, 03:32 PM I'm eating little snacks here and there every chance I get on top of my 3 meals a day. Is that normal? amu_d 09-23-08, 03:58 PM That normally doesn't happen. What's your dosage? What other side effects are you getting? What about positive effects, does the med help ADHD significantly? Tachyon 09-23-08, 04:26 PM that's it. in the beginning I had clenched jaw for some time. It has helped me tremendously. I do a lot more work and finish my week star studded. My boss complements me in our meetings. but the eating oh my goodness... frankfarter 09-23-08, 07:57 PM i heard adderall makes you eat less! GrimReaper 09-25-08, 01:17 AM I had/have the SAME problem! I notice if I am busy hw/work/ect.... I do not notice the hunger. Now it seems more, im hungry but "not in the mood" to eat. has that happened to anyone? Roger14 09-25-08, 04:53 PM Adderall and eating are a huge issue for me. When I first began treatment, Adderall suppressed my appetite and I ate less. Howerver after the first week my hunger returned and my eating habits returned to pre-Adderall normalicy. Grim, usually I'm always in the mood to eat, even on Adderall. My metabolism is very high and weight-loss is a bigger problem than weight-gain for me. I notice that I must have something in my stomach for Adderall to even be effective. If I'm trying to concentrate on something and I get hungry, the hunger will over power the benifits of the Adderall and I will loose focus on the task at hand. In fact, eating will increase the effects and benefits for Adderall in my body. It's like the food fuels the Adderall. Before I was aware of how the hunger affected my concentration I just would take more Adderall and not eat anything and not get any benefits. When I hear people talk about daily inconsistencies regarding Adderall effectiveness, I would suggest to try eating more before increasing the dosage. Oh also, I do get so focused sometimes that I forget to eat. This contradicts what I said earlier, but usually when I forget to eat it's because I'll be hyperfocused on something. CrystalShiloh 09-25-08, 10:35 PM I started taking Adderall today and I find that I feel famished. I think my metabolism is faster and so I am burning through more fuel. I also noticed that when I eat, the medicine is more effective. Veggymel 09-25-08, 10:46 PM Glad you brought this up...I have not been real hungry but when I am and I do start eating its just not that great and I am not in the mood to eat. I had/have the SAME problem! I notice if I am busy hw/work/ect.... I do not notice the hunger. Now it seems more, im hungry but "not in the mood" to eat. has that happened to anyone? michelle12345 09-26-08, 03:08 PM I had/have the SAME problem! I notice if I am busy hw/work/ect.... I do not notice the hunger. Now it seems more, im hungry but "not in the mood" to eat. has that happened to anyone? I am 19 years old and I have been taking 30 mg. of Adderall XR for about 4 years now. I completely understand what you mean when you say, "you're hungry, but not in the mood". I feel like this quite often. My stomach growls and is hungry, but I am not in the mood to eat. My stomach is hungry, but when I look at food, nothing looks good. I have to eat small snack throughout the day to keep my stomach from hurting. When I first started taking Adderall, I lost alot of weight, looked great, and felt amazing. Now that I have been on Adderall for so long, it is almost like part of me is becoming immune to the drug. I've gained most of the weight back, I seem to get tired quicker, and I have headaches and stomach aches when I dont eat small snacks throughout the day. :) Best of luck to everyone! :) |
