View Full Version : The Generics Poll sgdebbie 09-23-08, 09:41 PM See Poll Below Tylerlee17 09-24-08, 04:23 AM Only loser's vote for Barr!!! JK, anyway, vote for what really helps you. Always found barr generics terrible myself and I've found several posts claiming the same - thus my lame joke. johnnyx 09-26-08, 11:46 PM Thought they were all the same use the same chemical composition. Just like the generic tide you get at the grocery store that is the grocery store brand. That is why they call it a generic because the patent ran out so the company can copy the exact chemical formula of the drug. MrZee 09-26-08, 11:52 PM In order to be able to vote, I'd have to be able to compare -- but what if you've only taken it from one mfg? Might be more interesting to see a poll that asked: "Which mfg are you currently using? Which ones have you tried before?" Or, "If you have tried more than one, pick which one you found superior" etc etc tocamexr2 09-27-08, 12:47 PM I've only taken generic forms of adderall made by Barr (available mostly at Wal-Mart pharmacies) & Eon Labs (available mostly at Giant/Martins pharmacies). The only difference I've noticed is that sometimes the ones made by Barr hardly have an effect and on me and other times it has a great effect on me, and I'm it's the same dosage, I take it at the same time everyday, and there's no other physical issues, such as heartburn or any other type of stomach indigestion, or other meds that could be interfering with the absorption of the generic adderall. And also, the price difference is HUGE (here in PA, I don't know about other states). I used to purchase my adderall out of my pocket for $97 at Giant/Martins and now I only pay $65 for it at Wal-Mart, still out of my pocket due to lack of medical insurance. And my klonopin, $70 at Giant/Martins and only $24 at Wal-Mart. But anyway, I wonder why this absorbption/effect 'thing' happens. Clever question, thank you for putting up that poll. MrZee 09-27-08, 07:56 PM I've only taken generic forms of adderall made by Barr (available mostly at Wal-Mart pharmacies) & Eon Labs (available mostly at Giant/Martins pharmacies). Barr available at Wal*Mart, interesting tip. What seems strange is that Barr is no longer exactly a "generic" manufacturer of Adderall--they bought the original formulation from Shire in 2006 (http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2006/aug/15/marketforces.money) so anything from Barr, I would think, is "brand name" stuff. (Unless maybe they've been taking longer than 2 years to ramp up production on the original formulation, and it hasn't gotten to you yet? Who knows.) In another recent thread, some railed against Core Pharma in favor of Barr. (http://www.addforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51808) What seems difficult for me to sort out is when I read a "Barr sucks" story, and wonder when they took Barr -- was it before it became the Shire formulation, or after? Googling around, I see lots of "Barr sucks" reports pre 2006, which would have to be before they switched to the Shire formulation. There seems to be a "Barr sucks" sentiment towards their generic Ritalin IR too. tocamexr2, when you took the "Brand Name" adderall, did it list Shire as the manufacturer or Barr? Also, how long ago as it? If it was some other brand, what was it? Barr's SEC report (Adderall IR, which we acquired from Shire and launched in October 2006) confirms Adderall IR as having been "launched" in October 2006, so anyone now using Barr is using the "Brand name" stuff: Adderall IR, which we acquired from Shire and launched in October 2006 |
