View Full Version : I got it! It's not chest pain

I am starting to think that what I'm feeling isn't chest tightness. It's my abdominal muscles tightening. It's in that general area just above my stomach and feels like when I would get painless contractions while pregnant. Sorry, that's the best way I can describe it... it feels JUST LIKE those contractions only higher up.

If I'm correct, that relieves some of my worry (as opposed to it being in my chest), but I still haven't reached a verdict on my insane mood swing this morning. It seems to have passed by the way. (Mentioned it in my other post).

When you say "stomach", do you mean under your left ribs, or central under the sternum? Do you have your gall bladder, and or do you have indigestion?

Tightening in the upper abdomen can be caused by the stricture of the gall bladder, which can hurt centrally across the abdomen.

Please elaborate a little more...maybe I can clear this up.

I know, I keep telling people they are paranoid about heart **** and miss the point, its all in the stomach/digestive system **** from these meds... remember digestive problems are much more common than heart problems.

I get spasms in the lower rib cage area, I know its like my diaphram or something.

It's centrally located just below my sternum. It seems to pretty much spread evenly across. It is not painful. It does not seem to affect my breathing much if at all. I don't feel sick.

I does tend to happen after meals in general but that's also about the time the pill would be wearing off. It is pretty predictable.

It is relieved somewhat by sitting up perfectly straight or I just feel it less.

Thanks for your comments. It can be scary experiencing these intense feelings for the first time and not knowing what is going on. Especially in such close proximity to my heart. Realizing the great similarity between the way this feels and "false labor" was a bit of a relief.

Without, bloodwork, and or an Ultrasound, you will not know for sure.

If you have GB issues..it will likely feel like...a pulling, straining, take your breath away annoyance. This can happen with a fatty meal, or NOT! If there is a stone in the cystic duct, even the bite of a rice cake can trigger this pain.
GB pain, often presents itself as chest pain in women. I t does not have to be under the right shoulder! Often, it can flare up, then dissipate. Just keep an eye on it. The sitting up straight....CLASSIC symptom!
Please know you could find these results on any site, as I am making an observation and have no way of diagnosing this without diagnostic testing.
It is truly my opinion.

You are certainly welcome!
Remember with each childbirth, the risk of gallstones increase.

LOL! Bearing children seems to favor messing with my kidneys. One kidney stone with each child. Buy one get one free kind of. The rocks are not as cute though.

I did some additional reading on the issue and wasn't totally convinced that the gallbladder is my problem, but I will be speaking to my doctor about it. I certainly hope it's not anything like that because my insurance is quite limited since I can't afford decent insurance (I buy it myself).

Even if it is your gallbladder, you can often have symptoms releieved with diet changes...

This also preludes, a hiatal hernia, costochondritis, and a plethera of other wonderful anomilies our bodies are capable of.

Good Luck...
I am here if you have questions...just PM
