Do stimulants such as Adderall truly boost the metabolism, or does the weight loss occur simply because of lack of appetite?

I read somewhere that it does, and somewhere else that it doesn't.

I also read that not eating much when on Adderall can screw up your metabolism so that if you have to go off of it, you will gain all sorts of weight back.

Does anyone know the answers? I'm confused...

Alot comes from suppression of apetite, and some from an uknown origin - they really don't completely understand why Adderall causes weight loss for a while... after a while of taking it those side effects dissappear big time though (that's why it's not used for long term weight loss issues). You might think the weight loss occurs because it's a stimulant but not all stimulants cause that effect - caffeine can actually cause increases in hunger especially if you develop a high tolerance too it (though it's strangly marketed in almost all OTC weight loss pills). Adderall doesn't increase T3 or T4 Thyroid levels, and as far as I know those two harmones are the main link to metabolism's performance in the body (perhaps the hypothalamus gland a bit too)
